The mobile internet in your pocket, full computer, battery lasts forever,
By Robert Bushway "mobile pc gadget lover" (Colorado Springs, CO United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)

I've been using the Viliv S5 for several months and absolutely love the thing. What makes the Viliv S5 more appealing than other devices its' size is that it runs Windows XP - it's regular computer in a 5" form factor. The touch interface that Viliv has put together, from the iCube navigation, to the FastWeb browser make it a joy to use with touch.
The best thing about the Viliv S5 is how long the battery lasts - about 6 hours. It lasts long enough to take from home, bring to work, and then bring home again. The built-in GPS works great too - streets and trips, StreetDeck, etc would be great GPS apps for the Viliv S5. Here is a quick video I shot while taking the Viliv S5 on a mountain bike trip. I used it play music while I biked. As you'll see in the video, it flew out of my saddle bag after I hit a bump. I was amazed that it turned back on, and except for a few minor scratches, it still works flawlessly. [...]

I gave it 4/5 stars because it is missing one thing EVERY portable device should have. A built-in MICROPHONE. The only way to to get sound into this device is to use a bluetooth headset.
I can overlook a a missing SD/miniSD slot but not a mic. Trying to answer Skype calls is an annoyance on this device. Need to dictate a document? Better get your headset paired up. Forget about voice commands for any GPS software you have. That being said the device is rare in the gadget world in that it works as advertised. Battery does indeed last 5-6hrs. 720p video no problem. 1080p video it works too :) I've only tried a few movie trailers at 1080p so do your research. What I use it for: 1.torrent download/uploading. This is perfect since it uses 3.5-5watts of energy on light usage. At home I just mount it on the car kit which is attached to a CD case placed on my desk. I wish they would make a docking cradle for this device, I'm sure more people would use it as a mini desktop. 2. Run stock trading platform. 3. Web browser from the couch. Love this part. 4. E-book reader. With Kindle and eReader this is a great device. 5. GPS - I had to download a utility from Viliv's site to slow down the GPS data connection to work with AutoRoute. 6. Multimedia device. Nothing like being able to watch 720p videos on the go! I also have the VGA out cable and it works fine with my 1600x1200 external monitor. Annoyances: The FastWeb browser that they included has a very nice interface but almost useless to people outside Korea. It must be using a proxy server in South Korea. They need to allow people to deselect this nonsense feature. Also it lacks cookies or a means to cache information as you always have to retype your login information even if the browser is never closed. They should update this browser or remove it and just have FireFox with Grab and Drag installed. Wifi strength is really weak. My iPhone still gets half strength when this device drops the signal. It's not just at home, it's like this where ever I go. Not a big deal but annoying. Conclusion: If you don't mind the missing mic and need an All Singing All Dancing (I disliking having to find mobile versions of the apps I already use) mobile computer then the S5 deserves a serious look.
