Simply the best CD I have ever heard., April 26, 1998

This review is from: Prone Mortal Form (Audio CD)
The debut of Only Living Witness still strikes me a few years after I first heard it. There's something in those vaguely-Sabbathish melodies that crunch along with Jonah Jenkins' amazing vocals on top. Only Living Witness carve out ground that's somewhere between metal and hardcore, but I never have been very good at reducing things to different genres. The disc starts out with the bludgeoning title track and never lets go, though there are a couple of instrumentals that lighten things up -- one even has a string section borrowed from a local university. The only thing wrong with this disc is that it's too short, but when something is this good, that's a small price to pay.

Not quite as good as Innocents, November 18, 1998

This CD took a little getting used to. I bought it after their CD innocents, and it isn't as good. Don't get me wrong, it is good, but it has more of a "cheesy-metal" sound to it. But hey, there's nothing wrong with cheesy rock...
