This review is from: The Pronunciation of Greek and Latin (Paperback)
Sturtevant's long out-of-print linguistic study examines the traditions of and evidences of the correct pronunciations of Greek and Latin over time.In a tidy reprint (ISBN 0890050872), Ares has created a facsimile edition of the Sturtevant revised edition of 1940. Sturtevant's approach is focused, scholarly, and yet practical. As he puts it in the Preface, "The treatment has been kept as concise as possible. Evidence that appears to me inconclusive is usually not even mentioned." However, evidence that he does consider is weighed and measured in a thorough manner. Footnotes throughout with an index of the ancient authors cited. 5 page Bibliography.
