Excellent review of U.S. English pronunciation for non-native speakers! Is especially useful when used with Pronuncation Plus tapes/cd's. Highly recommended.

As an ESL teacher at UC Berkeley, I used this book many times - and, for more than one level, including low-intermediate to high. It is excellent, an A+ because the lessons are short, on target, truly helpful. I am now using it for a low level, all Hispanic class: they love it. I can already hear the benefits of their practice with it. When in doubt about what to use, I always grab this and am never disappointed. The lessons can stand alone, or be used to build - one upon the next. This makes it perfect for a semester or a week, for credit or non-credit. It can be used alone, or with other materials. I recommend it highly.

Pronunciation Plus and Pronunciation Tasks are two excellent, thorough presentations of spoken English by the same author. The material is essentially the same, but Plus is American accent and Tasks is British accent.
