4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, laid back cd. FIF has produced better but still good
This new album from Five Iron Frenzy portrays FIF in their concerts. This Ska band birthed from the late nineties avoids the "punk" sound. An electrifying, catchy rhythm guides their music. FIF signed as a Christian band. Many of their songs don't have direct reference to God or Christ. A Godly moral can be found in all their songs however. FIF is the just what the...

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid "Proof" from FIF
Keep it coming! This is my second FIF CD (my first was "Our Newest..."), and I even make a guest appearance in it (kind of). FIF made this album during the 99 Fest Season, and I saw them at Creation East. A couple of the songs are notably faster than the studio version (Oh Canada in particular). If you listen, you can also detect a few changes from the...

This review is from: Proof That the Youth Are Revolting (Audio CD)
This new album from Five Iron Frenzy portrays FIF in their concerts. This Ska band birthed from the late nineties avoids the "punk" sound. An electrifying, catchy rhythm guides their music. FIF signed as a Christian band. Many of their songs don't have direct reference to God or Christ. A Godly moral can be found in all their songs however. FIF is the just what the doctor ordered for teens who are interested in music. Proof That the Youth are Revolting is FIF's fourth album and their first live album. Of the Fifteen songs included in this album only three are unique to this album. All other 13 songs are played at a faster tempo than their debut on previous albums. This album is cram packed with zanney pre-tracks that leave you with anything but boredom. The laid back attitude of this band is very relaxing. For example the "bloopers" of this album are put together in a hidden track. If quality songs are what you desire, I recommend that you purchase an earlier album. Upbeats and Beatdowns and Our Newest Album Ever contain songs produced for quality before amusement. What makes Five Iron Frenzy such a popular band is their smooth rhythms in addition to their light hearted crazy personality. This band is a must for any ska fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome awesome awesome ska-punk, March 20, 2000

wow... that's really all i can say. FIF is probably one of, if not THE, best christian band ever. instrumentally amazing, lyrically phenomenal, and, as only a live album can express, spiritually and emotionally prodigious. that last part is best expressed in the bridge of every new day. the feeling pumping through the ending is enough to blow you away. it will put you in such a extreme reverent state of praise that it is practically indescribable. other well deserved acknowledgements are the stryper cover at the intro of one girl army; a flowery song; dandelions (my second favorite five iron song); and suckerpunch (always a gem). reese roper has distinguished song writing abiblty. just to be fair, jeff did a really good job on all that is good. i highly reccomend this album to ANY fans of ska and/or punk. go out and get this cd. then get all the others! they are all equally fantastic. five iron frenzy has one of those rare capabilties to create 1,000,001 different sounds (3rd world think tank and litmus and combat chuck). God bless you guys... buy this cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of FIF, November 21, 1999

This review is from: Proof That the Youth Are Revolting (Audio CD)
If I could have only one FIF CD, this one would be it. Where else can you find favorites like Oh Canada, Dandelions, Handbook for the Sellout and Every New Day all on one disk? Not to mention great new stuff like New Hope. Oh yeah, and it's live, which makes it even cooler. Buy it, love it, sing along and get funny looks from mainstream music types. <><

5.0 out of 5 stars The Quintessential Five Iron? Perhaps, December 29, 2003
This review is from: Proof That the Youth Are Revolting (Audio CD)
Five Iron Frenzy makes a solid compilation of some of their best songs with the release of this live album, which will delight die-hard fans of the Denver ska-core ensemble and curious listeners alike. One of the things that has always set Five Iron Frenzy apart from other groups in their genre has been their unique stage presence and sense of humor, (which encludes dressing as the cast of Star Trek and crowd surfing a giant pinata filled with chili across their crowd) and these qualities are shown in this album. However, apart from the outrageously entertaining gimmicks of their live preformances, Five Iron Frenzy also offers fine musicianship and songwriting which is played out with even more energy than their studio records. These aspects distinguish the band from their contemporaries and make for an exillarating live experience. In short, Five Iron is a dish best experienced live, but this album is the next best thing (and is sadly the only thing available after the band announced their breakup in late November of 2003.)

5.0 out of 5 stars SKA-LOVERS DREAM CD!, April 15, 2000

INCREDIBLE! This cd is absolutely incredible. The lyrics, the music, the energy, everything on this cd is awesome. Playing live is when Five Iron is at its best and this cd captures all of that. The best songs are One Girl Army, Handbook For The Sellout and without a doubt the best song on this cd is Every New Day! The energy and compassion in Reese Roper's vocals along with the tight sound of the band makes this song sweet. There are also funny moments on the disc like a cover of Tom Jones' "its not unusual" and the typical unusual five iron madeup songs like "receive him" and "kingdom of the dinosaurs". Overall i would reccommend this cd to anyone who loves ska music or just likes tight live music.

This CD is totally, spectacularly AWESOME! It's totally funny, the songs are pretty much all my favorites, the energy level is sky-high, and the glory goes to God. I would buy this CD just for the outtakes at the end, let alone the awesome songs in their entirety. This is my absolute favorite CD, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have some fun with their music. Heck, I'd recommend to anyone, period. Buy it--you'll love it!

I've had this cd for four years now and I still listen to it every day. For a live album, this one is awesome! Most live albums are not good. This is totaly opposite. LISTEN TO THE HIDDEN TRACK ON "EVERY NEW DAY"!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars We've been given super powers, December 26, 2002

Ok, I have to be honest, I bought this whole CD for one song, and I ended up loving the whole thing! I know that sounds ridiculous, but it turned out great in the end. Ironically, I had never seen them in concert, but had only heard one song. Hearing this album of theirs really made it clear as far as what's on their hearts and how real they really are. The songs are awesome! I definitely recommend this for anyone who is looking for your not-so-everday band with great lyrics. Definite must have!

This FIF CD is great and if you are just getting into ska or Five Iron then this should be your first choice. It has all the best songs from most of there records and more. This was the first Ska and FIF CD I bought and now I am hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars While it isn't the real thing, it is quite entertaining., October 12, 2000

I went and saw Five Iron Frenzy play last night, and it was honestly the most energetic, fun-filled experience I've had all month (maybe I need to get out more). The entire crowd knew the songs and could sing along, and Five Iron Frenzy was awesome on stage. My first suggestion is that you go see them live in concert, but if you can't do that this CD is a reasonable representation of how they perform on stage, without the atmosphere. If you haven't purchased their other CD's I would suggest doing that first, as knowing the songs first will make this CD a lot more fun. The $5 I spent on the concert was extremely well spent, but the $ on this CD isn't a bad purchase either.
