I tried it frontwards and discovered I was unable to type on the iPad with it on my lap because it was too close to my tummy.

Ever since I got my iPad 2 I seldom let it leave my side. When I am watching TV I use it to browse the TV Guide, check out what I am watching on the Internet Movie Database, shop on Amazon, etc. One thing that I discovered pretty quickly was that my regular leather case just wasn't going to work for me. It had to be set on a flat, solid surface or else it would fall over and I needed to have more choices of angles than just one. I received a Targus Lap Lounge and really liked it, however, it was hard to type on since it moved when I touched it. Also, I have to take it out of my travel case in order to put it on the Lap Lounge. Many people buy an iPad partly because it looks to sharp. Putting my sleek, black iPad on the beige, plastic Targus was kind of like wearing an old pair of sneakers with a tux. When I received my Prop 'n Go I was hoping for something better and better was what I got.

This new design is covered with a suede-like felt over a foam core. It is gives me a solid base to type on and allows me to use it while it is still in it's case. In addition I can use the same stand for my Kindle, my tablet computer, etc. I decided to make a short video review that compares the two products feature for feature. After I posted the video I realized that during one part I confused my iPad for my Kindle. I guess that it is a case of too many gadgets and not enough mind. I hope that you find the video to be helpful.

NOTE: Although I reviewed the Prop 'n Go, Amazon selected a video still of a different product that I used as a comparison. I hope that this doesn't cause confusion.

DISCLAIMER: Although I was not paid for this review I did receive a sample of the product for evaluation purposes. Thank you.

I bought the Prop it up for both my iPad and my HP Tm2 tablet laptop. The Prop it up works really well for getting my tablet into a slanted position that's actually high enough to get rid of the bad viewing angles of the TM2. I've been looking for a stand that could do this for some time and this fits the bill.

The stand is very well made. Like another review said, it looks handmade but it also looks very professionally made. The surface is made of a hard plastic that I found a bit to slippery. I spoke with the owner and he mentioned there were felt circles in the box to take care of this. I needed to little more modifying for my laptop to keep it steady, but other wise, for the iPad (with the felt in place) its perfect. I used the non slip carpet padding to keep my laptop from slipping off. If I was laying on the sofa and I leaned a little to much, my laptop would slide right off. That was the only mode I did to accomodate my laptop. Again for the iPad, whats included is all you need.

My laptop weighs close to five pounds and I found the prop it up could support its weight just find. There are real metal rollers that the really durable plastic fits between. As you prop it up you just move it to the next roller. I felt good about the rollers being metal and the plastic is very strong and supports my laptop and ipad with ease.

The reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because of the materials. The Prop it up is made of thick foam and covered with a black vinyl. While that in itself isn't my issue, its that while its on my lap it really starts to get warm. Maybe in future versions a more breathable fabric could be used. As it is now, I bought a cheap plastic cutting board to slide between it and my lap. Yes, my lap was getting that warm.

I waited to buy something to use for propping up my iPad until I found what I thought I wanted or needed. The Prop it Up is a brilliant design. It is as it appears in the images, video clips, and as described by the seller. It has proved invaluable for use with the iPad on your lap when sitting in a chair or on a sofa, or when lying in bed in any number of positions - including placing the Prop it Up on your stomach when lying back. The multiple levels offer enough viewing and even typing angles to satisfy your iPad needs in almost any position. The iPad stays in place whether using it in the vertical or horizontal position. And the pocket that allows you to slide the iPad inside for storage is the new home for my iPad whenever it's not in use. And just to make it especially awesome, there is a handle to make its portability that much better. It's lightweight and very comfortable to use. I could go on and on.

The bottom line is that the Prop it Up is a very cool product. And the seller is a pleasure to deal with, too. Buy the Prop it Up. I cannot imagine anyone who thinks they might want it not loving it once they have it.

The review for the product is simple. I bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. It arrived with the same adhesive problems that others had described, but otherwise it was a terrific product that my wife loved.

This is where the review changes - I did not have to write the company to tell them about the adhesive issue. Ben Palmer, the CEO of Padded Spaces, wrote to me on Dec 29th. Got that? The CEO wrote me to tell me that the issue was known, being actively corrected and that they would send me the adhesive as soon as it was worked out. I responded and thanked him for the email, not entirely expecting to hear anything and planning on sending a request for an update in a few weeks. It was never required. They sent the new strips within a week or two. I was pleasantly surprised.

Story doesn't end there. I have a 2-year-old daughter who likes to remove the plastic stand from the pillow. No more than a week after I got the adhesive strips, she removed the stand and hid it somewhere that I still haven't found. I suspect that it got thrown into the trash during her trash-can-phase. I wrote to the company, through their web site, to inquire if I could order the stand as a part or if it was only available as a single unit. Within a few hours, I got a response from the company (Cathy) telling me they were sending the part at no charge.

This is a level of customer service that I had thought long extinct and am thankful that an old-school company, like Padded Spaces still exists.
