5.0 out of 5 stars Melotron of Germany, You Are My Holy One., August 24, 2008
This review is from: Propaganda (Audio CD)
It's hard to believe that it's already been more than a decade since Melotron released their first single & album. 6 Albums, 12 Singles, & 2 EPs later, including the outstanding 2007 effort, Propaganda, it's been quite a decade indeed.

Propaganda, which ironically is also the name of a song found on their previous album, 2005s Cliche, includes 13 tracks, opening with the awe inspiring "Auferstehung" (Resurrection), a beautiful instrumental, which then immediately segues into the first single from the album, the powerfully energetic "Das Herz" (The Heart). It's a great track, which grabs you and keeps you dancing all the way. The music video is also included in CD-Rom format as a bonus track on the CD and is fun to watch, with the band's outfits changing colour from red to white, etc, over and over again.

Rolling right along into the next track, "Arroganz Der Liebe" (Arrogance Of The Love), and continuing onward, Propaganda includes such memorable cuts as "Du Bist" [You Are], a somber acoustic accompanied piece with bite. "Princess of Russia," which, just like the B-side, "2 Youg 2 Die" from '99s Morderwerk, is sung in German during the verses, and then sung in English during the chorus. "Broken," is completely sung in English and a huge fan favorite here in the states...its flavor reminded me a little of DM's It's No Good, from '97s Ultra. "Vaterland" [Homeland], with a nicely fast paced synth beat. "Liebe Ist Notwehr" [Dear Is Self-Defense], the 2nd single from the album, is a very cool song with an equally clever music video (sadly not included here). "Wir Können Auch Anders" [Can Also Differently], is both dark, bright & beautiful. Propaganda is nicely book-ended with "Dein Herr" [Your Gentlemen], using the same melody from Auferstehung. The album is both playful and serious throughout, with an added organic flavor, utilizing some real instruments to accompany the synthesizers.

If synth-pop/ebm is your thing, then Melotron is a great band to listen to. You don't really need to understand German, in my humble opinion, in order to fully appreciate this very talented electronic group. Just let the music grab you and take you to another place. It's as simple as that. This was a great decade for Melotron. Here's hoping a lot more music will be available throughout the next decade from Andy Krüger, Edgar Slatnow, and Kay Hildebrandt.

Propaganda - Melotron of Germany, You are My Holy One!

"Where are you now
I face my final tears
To realize you're not here
To see that everything's broken"

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Album, August 5, 2011

Being semi-new to the German synthpop/techno area, this is the first artist i've clung to. I now have three other albums of this artist. I liked this album particularly because it has the English-sung BROKEN, but it is neat to hear the others in German. If you are a fan of techno or the like, this is a good choice.

I've been a Melotron fan for a few years now, and this album is not disappointing at all. If you liked Sternenstaub, then you'll like this one. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another shining gem!!, August 16, 2007

Yet another masterpeice from these Deutsche synthpop pioneers!

As with any Melotron album, Propaganda is chalk full of interesting detail and polished off with world-class production. Your hearing senses are not to be left dulled!

Propaganda begins out with the beautiful and epic interlude "Auferstehung", then blends into the first hit single off the album, "Das Herz", which is another beautiful gem, and wonderful video! Other highly notable tracks include
"Arroganz Der Liebe"
"Princess Of Russia" - the chorus is sung in English
"Broken" all sung in English and a very catchy song
"Vaterland" has some really good hooks
"Dein Herr" - the album finishes off with a full length version of "Auferstehung". In this case, they really saved the best for last.

As a whole, Propaganda is diversified well enough to please a wide audience of synthpop audiofiles.

I really wonder which songs would be found on a "Best Of" Melotron album, because they all seem to be great! Hopefully they will spare us the "Best Of" cliche and bless us with another great studio album like Propaganda!

I very highly recommend this to any synthpop fan - this is a must have!
