In most homes, yes, in an emergency. camp stove propane is no different from gas company propane, but the stove doesn't have any protection against shutoff. It should never be used in an enclosed space. We had our kitchen redone and moved our cooking downstairs for a few weeks using our propane camping stove; to be extra sure we bought an second CO detector which was probably wise anyway with a basement gas furnace.
