As someone who has flown MANY of these little toy helicopters and gets much enjoyment from them, this one is one of the easiest to fly I've ever seen. Now, please keep in mind that this is a FLYING MACHINE, not a remote control car and there is a LEARNING CURVE. You can't expect to fly it perfectly right out of the box, even ones with built-in gyro stability like this one take practice to get good at it.

PROS:
-Much easier to fly than most on the market in a similar price range.
-Out-performs ones that are double the price.
-Durable, metal frame and highly flexible rotors, plus replacement parts.

CONS:
-Charges from the remote control which eats AA batteries like crazy and the remote takes 6 AA's at that! I found a solution to this issue, a USB charger on ebay that's well worth the cost considering the price of buying the AA's to keep these going.

[...]

It's a great little toy and flies well indoors. After some practice this thing has the stability to maneuver into very tight corners plus it can hover in mid-air. Would definitely recommend as a great gift to anyone into this type of stuff, especially kids. Like I said, do yourself a favor and buy the USB charger from ebay to go with it, it'll save you in the long run.

For starters this has been adult flown only.(1 month old) So far i have put about 14 flights on it with no breaks or issues other than some scuffed walls and scratched blades. Its pretty easy to master and is much more controllable on a full charge. I can hover it all around and do some maneuvers now. Its faily stable and fun to maneuver around the kitchen with. I feel it may be a bit too hard to fly without crashing often for say maybe the 13 and under age group. So far its held up to various crashes and drops. It does come with extra blades. i did brake a dogbone connection onto the balance shaft, which does not come as extra. I swapped it over to the other side and was ok to fly again. It takes about 10-15 min to charge the heli and you get about 6-10 minutes of fly time. Not sure about the long term quality since mines only 1 month old. If i remenber next christmas ill update this review than.

Id really give it 3.5 stars but that was not an option. It seems more on the pricey side compared to other brandm micro helis i see on amazon. Had i paid say 30-40 i may have given it 4 stars.

Electronic toys and devices are not strange to me but this is my 1st heli. Based on other online comments, decided to buy it yesterday when I was with my wife in a mall. To my surprise, this heli is incredibly durable and really easy to fly. It comes with spare wings, a nice bonus for the price. You will get the basics after a couple of minutes. It is extremely stable as well which I've read is hard to find on helis of same size and price. I've had lot of fun flying since I have it and even after one or two hard crashes is still working like nothing, has a great construction. The bad: charges in about 20 min but flying time is really poor, 5 min. only. I wish they can sacrifice weight and manoeuvrability for a better flying time. Other than that, I would recommend this to any adult or kid looking for his 1st indoor heli. And remember, this is for indoor use only. You need zero air current or breeze for better stability and control.

i purchased this product and it is now broken, within 1 week of receiving it. I believe that it was defective upon arrival. Upon calling the number that came with it and submitting feedback to Amazon, i have not gotten any response. It is frustrating as this is the third product and vendor that I have had issues with through Amazon.

What i would like is to get a new skid for my helicopter so that it would work, but no one calls or emails.

Thank you.

I bought two at Costco for half the selling price on Amazon, so for me, $30 a piece makes this a good deal. It's a blast for beginners. Doesn't handle like the $$$ units, but it's super durable and still pretty responsive. We run them into walls at full speed, drop them from the ceiling, roll them down stairs, and they still go like new. I even took it into the garage and crashed into the concrete a few times. No problems at all. Battery life isn't bad, either. Somewhere shy of 10 minutes in the air with the lights off, which is on the higher end. Charges up in about 20 minutes.

You can fly up to 3 in the same vicinity, but the directions don't explicitly mention how. Took me a while to figure this out: Select a channel on the remote and hook up the copter for a charge. Really simple, just not as obvious.

Drawbacks:

-It operates on IR, which is roughly line-of-sight. If it wanders behind a wall, for example, you've got about a second to react before it falls.
-Trim buttons DO work, but the effect per press is really small. Good for fine tuning, but frustrating if you're trying to make a serious adjustment.
-It's only a 3-axis unit, and you can find one with 4 axes for around the same price. Not a big loss, but it's fun to sweep side to side.
-The cost of AA batteries adds up quickly, and the remote chews through them because it doubles as a charger. When the red Power light flashes, it's time to change the batteries. Probably about 10 charge cycles.
-The copter battery isn't removable. When it stops holding a charge, you throw the whole thing away.

In conclusion: it's a hoot and you'll play with them every day. If you can find them cheaper, buy a few. But $50 for this thing is too much.

My son got two of these for Christmas from two different people. We decided it would be fun to keep both of them and he could fly both.

At first it's really fun. You fly it indoors and it's easy to fly. For about 5 minutes.

Both of the helicopters fell apart on day one. The rotor broke off of the first one. The second one, the wings just quit spinning and we can't figure out why.

Customer service on this thing is non existent!!! There is supposedly a club where you can order spare parts directly from Propel Toys. I signed up for the club and sent an email asking some questions. No response. Sent a second email. That was nearly 3 weeks ago. Now they have taken down the club to buy spare parts and you can't get any spare parts on their site.

We will be returning both helicopters. Very poorly made disposable toy for a lot of money. My poor little boy was very upset. He wanted one of these for a long time and was so excited to get two of them. Until a few minutes later.

I have tried other mini helicopters, such as an Air Hog version, and they were all pretty bad. My mom bought this for my 5 year old for Christmas and I had my doubts. I tried it first and struggled, but then I took things one step at a time. A slow hover, then mix in a slow rotation with a hover, etc. Then I let my 5 and 7 year old try in a similar fashion. A first, this thing took a huge beating, but NEVER broke. It has been crashed more times than I can count. In just over a day my 7 year old can successfully hover, go forward and reverse, turn, etc. My five year can hover, do small turns, and move a little bit forward and back. They each have about 15 flights on it and I have less than 10. The battery lasts about 6 minutes with the lights off, 5 with them on. I am extremely impressed with the durability and ease of this copter. But REMEMBER to take things one step at a time. It was bought from Costco for Christmas, and I am going back to get another for my seven year old and possibly one for myself to play with the kids. They are very fun, and if you take it one step at a time, the learning curve isn't that bad.

Got one as a gag gift! It works fine and it can really take a beating! Mine has crashed on the floor, ceiling, walls, furniture and everywhere else.
The good: seems to operate properly, very durable. If you're an advanced "pilot" you can definitely utilize your skills on this one. Comes with some replacement parts.

The bad: the online prices. at least 2 of the discount stores out there have them for $30. Flight time is about 5 minutes or less, charging time is at least 15 minutes. The charging mode sucks battery big time (but that's typical for items like this). I'd advise getting a charger and maybe 2 or 3 sets of batteries.

My son just got the toys for a gift 4 days ago and after about 4 hours of indoor flight time, the Gyrocopter hit a wall and fell to the carpet. The "Balance Bar" piece snapped in half. I am looking for the broken part, NOT THE BLADES. With no luck. It wouldn't be so bad if I could find the replacement part. The "balance bar" is the toothpick thin piece with weighted metal tips located between the top and bottom set propellers along the stem. The copter won't fly without it.
