This revolutionary software puts the power of a multi-million dollar studio into your laptop ! The amount of sonic possibilities here are infinite - this is a great tool for the musical novice as well as the most advanced music professional. I highly recommend it !

I just bought this upgrade a little while ago and have been extremely pleased. Propellerhead's Reason software is nothing short of incredible. With every upgrade, it just gets better and better. The updates to the sequencer make it more efficient to create tracks, and Thor is a monster of a synth module. I'm looking forward to learning more about how it works. I'm looking forward to when I can upgrade up to Reason 5. But for now, I'm content with Reason 4 and the virtually limitless possibilites it allows.

If you come from the "Old School" of hardware production equipment, you'll quickly feel right at home with this software. Simple installation, non-obtrusive serial number based "protection", and you're off.
The environment is very well suited to multiple styles of production covering multiple musical genres. The included sound libraries will more than cover the typical pop, rock, and R&B based tracks. Electronica could not be simpler.
Any complaints I've ever noted regarding this package are based on lazy, inexperienced "producers" looking for a "One click hit machine". The sound quality is superb, and the included sound manipulation/mastering tools are excellent for this level of investment. Once you've developed your workflow, the creativity will explode.
As a user of multiple DAWs, I find no loss whatsoever over the lack of VST/VSTi support. There are no sounds or sound design tasks I've been unable to produce with this software. Adding the "Record" (also from Propellerhead) product to this item "seals the deal". Numerous third party sound "Refills" are available for those not comfortable with sound design, but for song writing and production, it's all in the box.

I had Reason 3. I had been meaning to upgrade for a while. Record (the new audio DAW software from propellerhead) is available for $150 to people who own Reason 3, AND that includes a free upgrade to Reason 4. Search for "Record for Reason Owners".

Record and Reason 4 work together seamlessly as one program. I used to use Pro Tools, and I'm happier now that I'm using Record. It's really well designed. I can't imagine a better software combo to own for a solo recording artist, whatever kind of music you do.

As far as the upgrade from Reason 3 to 4, you get a new synthesizer (Thor) which is pretty cool but not essential. The sequencer is a bit different, which I think is a definite improvement.

I've been using Reason since 2.0 and it never ceases to impress me with all the useful studio tools that Propellerhead seems to be able to pack into each release. When you consider the cost of this software vs what you'd have to pay for equivalent studio hardware, the value is just incredible. Reason always gets 5 stars!
