I bought a pair of these in April 2011. As of November 2011 they are no longer usable for me. So they lasted me a total of 7 months.

If you go through your daily walking shoes once to twice per year, then don't bother reading the rest of this review; buy these. They are very comfortable and provide fantastic support for your feet.

If, however, you keep your daily walking shoes for longer than 6 months, then please read on.

First of all, let me expand on the good points:
-- I have never owned a pair of shoes that felt better on the feet. I work downtown and do a fair amount of walking every day. I usually put these on when I am headed to lunch or coming into (or leaving) work every weekday.
-- I have never had any foot aches or other issues with soreness as long as I have worn these. I hadn't been so lucky with any other shoes before this pair, so this was heaven-sent. That is, until...

Now onto the reason I couldn't wear them after only 7 months of use: VELCRO. Each shoe has a single strap on it that goes in through a hole one side and comes back around to fasten at the end via Velcro. After prolonged usage, the fluffy/soft side of the Velcro area starts giving away and the strap begins to lose its grip.

This became very annoying. Slowly, over time, as I'd be walking, the straps would come off (you would hear the signature Velcro ripping sound) and then your shoe would become incredibly loose and uncomfortable. Then eventually, as I neared the 7-month mark, the Velcro would disengage on both shoes as soon as I put them on and stood up. At this point I decided to be done with them and bough a new pair.

    Two things about my experience:
    1) I contacted Propet's customer support.

Here's the problem for me, as an old guy with 25 years' experience of diabetes (type 2): it's a long way down there to where the shoes are to cinch them up nice and tight. I wear an AFO -- that's an Ankle-Foot Orthotic device. It's a brace that fits into my right shoe. When I ease my foot into the shoe, over the brace, I then need to tighten the shoe up so that it doesn't flap around when I walk. This shoe has a Velcro closure, but then, so do many others. The difference with this one is that the Velcro strap crosses over the arch of the foot and back to set. It is a simple enough mechanism, but I cannot imagine why nobody else has ever done it. The shoes themselves were a little odd-feeling when I first put them on. The whole structure under the foot is sort of soft, making the initial feeling a bit as if I were floating. No other way to describe it! Took almost two minutes to get used to it, though! There is one tiny odd thing to mention, and that is after a full day of wearing them it was definitely true that they squeak as I walk. Hard to sneak up on the wife with that! Since I first developed diabetes and other foot problems, this is the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned.

I bought these for the unusal look. I know that makes no sense.
Even with a silly impusle buy I found out I bought a very good feeling
walking shoe they look great but the feel is what has sold me.

The breaking in did not even give me so much as any reddness on any part
off my feet I will buy another pair.

This shoe is great for workouts. The only problem is the velcro. There isn't enough to wrap around the ankle for support, just like all other shoes. I've had this problem for years. I have big feet but small ankles. I would think someone would come up with a better solution by now. I had to improvise and cut a strip of velcro for each shoe to make an extension to get the right fit I needed. I get tired of doing this with every shoe brand. The part that gets me the most is that shoes with laces for people with big feet are much longer than necessary. I would always have to cut them to the size where I won't trip when I walk. I mention this because I bought laced shoes from Propet as well and, just like everyone else, they seem to believe that the longer the shoe, the longer the laces, when in fact is not proportional. I wish someone would take the time and count up the eyelets on the shoe and compare them to smaller shoes. Then maybe they can see that there is no difference.

Had purchased another pair of diabetic shoes at an establishment
recommended by my doctor. The shoes disintegrated in 6 months,
I previously had other pairs of Propet that lasted and are still going
strong and figured that it was worth trying a pair that were supposedly
good for my feet. My only problem with these is my feet are 12.5,
the 13 is a little loose though the 12 would be too tight. Better loose than
    tight.

The shoes are the most comfortable that I have ever bought and they fit my needs well. I worry though about how long the velcro flap will last that keeps the shoe closed tight. I found that if you pull the tongue tight enough and secure the flap just right, it works well but otherwise, seems to come loose on it's own

The Propet Men's Pedwalder 25 Walking Shoe is a nice shoe, but the pair I bought developed a couple of annoying problems. The velcro on the left strap keeps coming loose, making it problematic to keep the shoe "laced" correctly. Not only did the velcro backing pull loose from the material, but the velcro material also pulled out, creating an effect similar to a cotton ball being pulled apart. The result is one shoe that does not fasten correctly. Adding to the problem is the fact that my pants leg catches the tip of the strap when I walk, which tends to pull the strap up. Since it is not "anchored" well anyway I end up with a loose shoe quite a bit. The right shoe does not seem to have any of these problems so maybe I just got a dud, but I am not satisfied with this product.
In fairness to the Propet people, I do own another pair of Propet shoes (different style) and they are excellent.
