This book had me in its grasp the entire night after I bought it. I seriously _could not sleep_ until I found out what happened. I stayed up until about 5. What happened with Vallant and Tamrissa was almost satisfying (I say almost because they've been feuding or pussy-footing since Book I and I got sick of it), and yes, Naran and Rion are overly sweet together, but Rion is still my favorite. It just amazes me how a pompous jerk can change into a caring, sympathetic, sensitive person. A little too perfect, but if that could really happen...it gives one hope. At the end of the book, since it was Book V, I thought oh good, Sharon Green'll wrap it all up now--but yet again, I find that there will be another series...sigh (but a good sigh--more books!). The demise of the baddies was darn cool, and I just barely pitied them (except Delin. He was pure evil).

The book was very good, and once again you reach an ending you never saw coming. The fate of all of the "evil" characters is very satisfying. You ALMOST feel sorry for them. New threads appear and others are left open for great possibility in the upcoming trilogy.

I was a little disappointed with the length of the Tamrissa/Vallant thing. They knew they wanted each other - but I'm glad the way it ended (If you read this Sharon - no more games! They may not see perfectly eye-to-eye, but keep them together!)

The dialogue was a bit heavy, but the blending action was great.

An excellent read, and it will leave you hungering for the next trilogy.

P.S. - Give Naran a cover in the next series, and a full-face of Jovvi would be nice too!

I was thrilled with Amazon when this book showed up in my hands the day that it was released. It wasn't long before I had finished another great book by Sharon Green. I was a little surprised, though at other readers' comments, because I didn't have much of a sense of closure at the aside from Tamrissa and Valant's relationship, and I thought that the resolution of the heroes vs. the seated five was a little anti-climactic. Still, I was sucked in to this one and I will be holding my breath for the coming trilogy. This is a great series with fascinating characters and a wonderfully created world. I suggest that if you start it, buy all five books at once so you can read them as fast as you'll want to!
