4.0 out of 5 stars Capleton is the man of reggae! (Best work of his career!), June 1, 1999

This review is from: Prophecy (Audio CD)
My friend recently put me on to Capleton and ever since then I've been hooked on his music. Prophecy is the most powerful album I have heard in my life!! My favorites are Tour, Big Time, Heathen Reign and No Competition. The hip-hop remixes are wicked as well. Don't sleep on his hidden track either. 'Nuff Respect Capleton!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars ain't enough!..., December 1, 2002
This review is from: Prophecy (Audio CD)
There have been some better reggae records made, but Prophecy deserves as much props as any. Powerful, insightful and JAMMIN'! A record that sounds as good when I am having my tea on a Sunday morning as it does when I am blasting it in my Jeep on Saturday night(Record seems like it was made for sub-woofers). Best of all, it is completely devoid of the poisonous negativity & slackness you get everywhere else. A masterpiece by The Prophet that is sure to Rock & Uplift. It is a waste of time to try to point out the highlights, since I will just be pointing out every track. The added remixes are annoying, hip-hop butcherings that really sound dated, but people who like hip-hop tend to be impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A solid dancehall release with lotsa Rasta, December 31, 2001
This review is from: Prophecy (Audio CD)
I really enjoyed this cd and like to play it loud. The disc opens up with the powerful and highly listenable Tour and moves through a list of quality dancehall.

I love the rasta drums in Babylon Judgement and Chant. Glorious Morning is just a cool track. Capletons vocals work in perfect unison with the music. The wind-sounding instrument played on this track adds a free spirited feel to this rather powerful song as well.

All tracks are noteworthy, but I will not waste your time. Go and get this one. You will be happy you did.

Just a really powerful dancehall release.

5.0 out of 5 stars Appropriately titled., June 16, 1998

If anyone out there still believes that Haile Selassie was just another Ethiopian monarch, or that Marcus Garvey was just a glorified travel agent, you simply can't afford not to hear this album. Capleton's message weaves coherently together ideas on such topics as the Last Judgment, individual conduct, and modern technology. Like a true contemporary prophet, he infuses intelligent Biblical reference into social and spiritual discourse geared for the present day, while keeping both eyes open toward the future. Even if you can't understand the lyrics, Capleton's energetic voice and vibrant music alone should keep "Prophecy" close to your heart and stereo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over looked Classic, May 19, 2007

Prophecy was the first album to come out of Def Jamaica Recordings in 95. This album is a staple Dance hall album. Capelton is a genius infusing the traditional spiritual base of Roots Rock and the hard hitting beats and delievery of Dance Hall. This CD is most definetly worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars RETURN OF THE ANCESTORS, THIS IS PROPHECY !, July 18, 1998

As the moon cycle goes out, and the sun cycle comes in, Capelton reaffirms the ancient truths, with the chant of an Ethiopian warrior, the insight of a mystic, and the rythmic beat of the universe. All captured in a contemporary tumbling of ancient genetics, and Capelton is the Sub-total of all of the past ancestor's DNA. FAHEEM AZIZ, THE MOOR.
