A Ride for the Soul,

I simply love the sound of North and South American flutes and this CD offers the most beautiful performance and composition I have ever heard. The flutes are played with great sensitivity and glow and the percussion adds to the richness of sound. The music is both authentic and unique with some contemporary influence. The melodies and gentle sounds emanating from the flutes take your soul for a ride. Go for it. Margrete Heising Concord, California.

The Prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor,
By A Customer
This review is from: Prophecy of the Eagle & The Condor (Audio CD)
Tito la Rosa performed this music in Half Moon Bay, CA recently, using instruments that were either the original or hand made replicas of the ancient flutes and instruments of Peru. Beautiful music... this CD is like listening to him right there before you. Mary Youngblood's flute joins Tito's to make "The Power of Love" very special, a great gift for someone you love. Listen to the sample on Amazon.com, it's a bargain. Two Thumbs Up, M and J

Sometimes it is hard to believe that there is in Peru something else that Afro-Peruvian music and Los Incas. There is. Tito La Rosa has managed to distill and capture the essence of Peru and brought it as a friend and a collaborator to the New World in the North in line with the ancient Incan prophecy.
This CD succesfully combines pre-Incan sounds (using authentic instruments) with Native American flutes. But there is more. La Rosa is an authentic healer steeped in several Peruvian traditions and his music is a direct portal into the wisdom that has been preserved to this day. The music is gentle and delicate, yet filled with power and energy of munay (the heart). Highly recommended; if you can, get his other CD too (Iqaro Canto Shamanico) which is based on Amazonian (Shipibo) traditions. Spectacular stuff.

Knowing this music has made me aware of the power of Indigenous brilliance. Tito uses bone flutes that were made 1000 years ago, so the intervals are more attuned to Nature sounds than regular scales. It lifts my Spirit. I am altered, and grateful for it. I heard his cd titled Iqaro and felt completely absorbed in the ancient ritual sounds. I hope Amazon has a way of getting more of this wonderful musician's work.

Tito's only US release -- Peruvian music at it's best,

This is a deeply heartfelt recording. Tito La Rosa is a master of Andean flutes, and has a profound understanding of the Peruvian culture. This music is deeply spiritual -- no "El Condor Pasa" here! On this recording Tito is beautifully paired with Mary Youngblood, who makes a perfect yanantin (double) for him. Their duets are amazing!
Tito has many other recordings, but they are a bit hard to locate outside of Peru. If you do a search on "Tito La Rosa" you may find a source for them, though. Also, Mary Youngblood's CDs are fantastic and highly recommended. |
