Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Celebrity psychic Sylvia Browne now offers her equally inspiring and forbidding prophecies in this discussion about the future of humanity. Browne pays homage to many famous prophets, including Nostradamus, Madame Helena Blavatsky, and Edgar Cayce. She then explains how prophets glean information about the future. Not all prophets should be trusted, she warns. Browne lists ways to recognize a "false prophet," such as recognizing that "any prophet who claims to be infallible is a false prophet." On this front, Browne claims that her own accuracy rate is 87 to 90 percent. "Only God can truthfully claim 100 percent." Many of Browne's predictions include good news, such as the end of common cold by about 2009 or 2010. In approximately 2025 all but a few of the world's religions will join "forces and funds" for the good of humanity, creating numerous global interfaith "Healing Centers"--offering round the clock medical care, food, shelter and counseling. However, around 2020, there also seems to be a serious reckoning with global pollution that coincides with a collapse of many long-term institutions, including the end of the "one-man" presidency, the end of the stock market, and the ending of marriage as a viable institution. Around this time, she also sees domed cities emerging in the U.S. in order to protect citizens from pollution—-an assertion that's been met with much skepticism. Reading between the lines, Browne sees a collapse in our economic, corporate, and religious structures in order to contend with the rampant pollution and human greed that are destroying the natural world. Maybe you don't need to be a gifted psychic to foresee this development, but Browne certainly offers a fascinatingly detailed account of how it will unfold over the next 50 years. --Gail Hudson

4.0 out of 5 stars Go ahead and read it if you're curious., August 9, 2004
This review is from: Prophecy: What the Future Holds for You (Hardcover)
This is a controversial book for Sylvia, just like many of her previous books about God and the afterlife. Many people will not beleive what she has to say about the possible future of our world. Then again, many people will cling to every word. I, for one, am open minded enough to accept the possibilities of her prophecies and what lies ahead. I'm glad that she wrote this book because at least I have a heads up.

It's very unfortunate that many true Psychics and Prophets like Sylvia aren't taken seriously. I can understand why. There are so many phonies out there (remember the Miss Cleo debacle?). It's easy for the general public to look at a psychic and go "ugghh" in disgust and not want to listen anymore. That's all stereotype. We can listen to someone like Sylvia who has humankinds best interest at heart. Of course, there are those that would argue and just plain hate here because she does things only a handfull of people can do.

I would argue that Sylvia is neither a fake or a phony. She isn't 100% accurate, but then again no one should expect her to be. She's not perfect, and she's definetly not God, but I do believe that she is a modern-day Prophet sent by God to give us messages and warnings. Not everyone will believe or even pay attention. That's okay - there are enough of us that will.

As far as what she has to say about our future, it's not all doom and gloom like some people have said in their reviews. The doom and gloom was what they paid attention to and what stayed on their minds. Sure, we are going to face a tough future, but that's the whole point of a book like this: if the weather forecaster says it's going to rain, you know to have a raincoat handy. What I like, is that she doesn't preach to us. She tells it like she sees it. And if she's wrong about some of the bleak things in our worlds future, then I'm glad that people wisened up and took some warnings to heart and did something about it. There are many things to look forward to.

This book is well written, informative, and gives us all a glimpse of likely future events. If you are an open minded person and are curious, this is probably a book for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars All true prophecy comes from the same Source, January 27, 2006
By
This review is from: Prophecy: What the Future Holds for You (Hardcover)
When Sylvia Browne states that everything she does is in connection to our Creator I believe her. It rings true to my intuition. This is a woman that has been honing her psychic talents publicly for over 50 years now, and I respect that. She never claims to be completely accurate every time, but her 87 or 90% accuracy rate is phenomenal.

I also found this book to be well organized and comprehensive- it isn't some rambling potboiler. It really is well structured and laid out. First, we are introduced to the fact that native cultures all around the world have independently believed in prophecy. We are given examples among the North American Indians, the Australian Aborigines, and the Incas. It is emphasized that those independently derived visions are so close that one must conclude that they all came from the same higher Source. This same concept is then carried over to the major world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism. Then more modern examples of prophecy are examined, from traditional examples such as Nostradamus, Fatima, and Cayce to surprising ones such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Madam Blavatsky, and Winston Churchill. Once again it is shown that prophecies seem to originate from one eternal Source- eternal and infinite. Then she goes on to examine that source- the Other Side. Much of what she speaks of here is detailed in her excellent _Life on the Other Side_.

As for her specific predictions of the future, I won't spoil them here. Suffice it to say that the 2020's look pretty grim- the result of collective bad karma as a civilization. However, if we can get beyond that period the future looks almost too good to be true. I most especially hope that her visions of religious collaboration and of the "Healing Centers" come to pass.

Oh yes, her comments on Mystic Travelers might seem hard to believe at first. But then, why shouldn't we accept that other spirits occupy other physical bodies on other worlds just as we do here on earth- and that we can interact with these other spirits both on the physical plane and the Other Side?

4.0 out of 5 stars Come On Cut Her Some Slack, October 4, 2004
This review is from: Prophecy: What the Future Holds for You (Hardcover)
Now let's cut Sylvia some slack folks. This is the first book of Ms. Brownes I have read, as I really just have not been drawn to her. She seems a bit "Cold" to me. But like most Americans at this time I am interested in what the future holds in wartime. So I bought it.

She has made some BOLD long term predictions here that most psychic stay away from. So time will tell if she is legit or not. If she is she will leave legacy similar to Edgar Cayce (Which she seems to hold in high esteem in the book). If she is not she will slide into the land of "Has Beens" such as the likes of the "Saved By The Light Man" um what was his name ........? I just Googled it, it was Brinkley.

The point being she has placed her career and reputation on the line, so for that alone I am going to cut her some slack and give her 4 stars instead of 3. As it did flabbergast me a bit that she left on key upcoming predictions (current elections, Israel's situation and such), but she has tried.
