Again it's great, but...,

This review is from: Rose of the Prophet, Volume III: The Prophet of Akhran (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read the first two books of this series I couldn't wait for this one and I was not disappointed after getting it. The book is simply great and different from the other fantasy books I've read... the style, the characters and more. I read it in about a week and was eager for the next part. But that's where I was wrong... it was the final part of the series.I somehow have an unhappy feeling, the ending is just not an ending. The series seems to stop in the middle... as if suddenly all the inspiration was gone. Where the series could, and in my opinion should, go on in a next book this isn't the case. For example, the book speaks of a massive battle to come, but then suddenly ends... That's also why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5... the ending was just such a disappointment for me. The book would be getting 5 stars if it wasn't the final part for it is great to read, from the first to the last page. However, the abrubt ending ruined quite a bit for me... sadly. But I enjoyed every page in every part...

Why don't ppl write books like this anymore and actually end their series (take a hint Jordan)? Will Zohra end up with matthew? Will matthew make it home? Will Khardan free his brother from the dog faced general? A must READ!

This final book of the Rose of the Prophet trilogy really did it for me. All of the loose ends were wrapped up and the mysteries revealed. While some people seem to think that the ending wasn't satisfactory, I disagree. The book ends with a pretty clear picture of what the future holds for the characters and the resolution of the plot was complete. This was my favorite book of the trilogy because of the fast pace and intense action. While the first two books seemed a bit drawn out and slow due to the neccesities of character and plot development, this book was right to the point and brought the whole trilogy to an exciting climax.
In my opinion, this final volume makes the whole trilogy really worth reading. While not Weis and Hickman's best story that I've read, I still enjoyed it very much.

The last of the Rose of the Prophet?,

This review is from: Rose of the Prophet, Volume III: The Prophet of Akhran (Mass Market Paperback)
Having read the first two, loaned them out and not gotten them back... I went to the bookstore to buy new ones and found this title as well. I started over, from book one, all the way to the ending here. It ends abruptly, leaving you with the sense that another story should be starting. And true to tell... at a convention, Margaret Weis signed my book. I asked her what would happen to the young wizard Mathew... and she wrote: "Dear Elisabeth... Look for another book!"I'm still waiting.

A Great Conclusion to a fantastic series,
This review is from: Rose of the Prophet, Volume III: The Prophet of Akhran (Mass Market Paperback)
I struggled for more than 2 years to get books 2 & 3 in the series (this was before the Internet! ), and you cannot imagine my relief when I finally got my hands on them. "The Prohet of Akhran" was not as humorous as Book 1, nor was it as dark as book 2, but it was thoroughly gripping. The characters develop during the course of their experiences, and MW & TH's brilliant chracterization and quirky writing style make it a winner. This series has done the rounds among friends and family, and is always worth a re-read while I'm desperately awaiting more fantasy novels.

Rose of the Prophet,

This review is from: Rose of the Prophet, Volume III: The Prophet of Akhran (Mass Market Paperback)
The last in the "Rose of the Prophet" series, this book brings to a climatic conclusion the war between the gods, as well as the war on earth, and the war on the immortal plane. With thier usual good humor and descriptive writing, Hickman & Wies transport you to a world of Djinn and desert nomads. These books keep you coming back for more, and each new read reveals something new.

Wonderful experience...,

This series is such a good one...I read all the books in two weeks, I couldn't wait to know the end and now that it's over I would still be reading it. Few are the books that make me fell this way, and the ones M.Weis and T. Hickman wrote are exactly this way...you can't stop reading them , I can't wait to read more written by those two writers. And if you don't know them go read their books and then let me know!

FANTASTIC,IT MADE ME REMEMBER MY COUNTRY,

This review is from: Rose of the Prophet, Volume III: The Prophet of Akhran (Mass Market Paperback)
I only recently discovered these amazing authors who have managed to keep me panting for more (not a usual occurance with me). This trilogy totally swept me away and I was pleased that someone had finally decided to base a book in the desert, using people that are similar to my own ancestors who also lived in the Sahara Desert. But my only dissappointment was the fact that it is over....So please Margaret Weis & Tracey Hickman, if you read this review, give us some more adventures in this exotic series, I am waiting with anticipation

Gotta tell ya, this is an excellent series; I might like it even more than the Deathgate Cycle, if that's possible. Quite brilliant in all aspects; start reading and you can't stop, so be sure when you begin the first book you have the next two handy; you may go insane if you don't have instant access to all three.
