If used correctly of course.

The best way to sue this is on a wet face after you rinse post shave. This needs water, it wont do anything on dry skin. You just need a little dot on each cheek, I mean a little. Just enoguh to where it's visible on your finger. Rub into your wet face. I will even run my hands under water, shake off the excess and rub in some more to add water. If you use too much it will be sticky, then you will know next time to use less. This has the great proraso scent and cooling effect.

This little jar has lasted me about 6 months to a year. just remember, DONT over do this. You will waste it and not be happy with the product.

I purchased this product along with my first double-edged safety razor and the Proaso shaving cream. The smell is pleasant, though not at all strong. This product is great for softening the beard before shaving, and leaves my face cool and tingling after shaving. My skin has also been noticeably healthier since using this product. A little goes a long way, and I expect I will only need to purchase this product at most twice a year given the amount in each jar.

This product is a staple in Italy, and it's easy to see why. It's a classic, with no fills but good ingredients that leave user feeling refreshed after each application. I recommend this product

I have curly hair and have tried hundreds of dollars worth of pre/post shaving creams and oils and have never found the correct solution. Proraso has a very cooling almost numbing affect when applied under my shaving cream (always mug and brush) has redused breakouts and ingrown hairs. I would recommend this product highly. I cannot shave without it.

A lot of you guys that buy a lot of shaving products from amazon have probably seen my reviews on a lot of these products. Let me just explain that for years I have shaved and have never been satisfied with the cheap results. Bad results equals bad confidence and of course bad looking skin. Ever since I switched to traditional shaving and have gotten the results I have dreamed about, I want to help other men achieve this too.

I am all about recommending quality products that help guys look good and feel good about it. I also understand that some products that work for me might now work for you, but like the old saying goes you will "never know unless you try it". So here is the review

I bought this stuff and use it underneath the proraso eucalyptus and menthol cream. It does make a difference.

I usually wet my face real good then massage this cream in a leave it for a few minutes. Then lather up normally and proceed to shaving.I'm not sure if it softens the hair or what since this pre shave cream does not appear very slick like you would expect. I do not know how it works, I just know that it does.

I recommend it. It feels excellent on the skin and helps protect your skin. I recommend all proraso products

Absolutely the finest aftershave I've ever used. OK as a preshave, but it really shines as an aftershave. Gives you the cooling, energizing hit of an alcohol-based aftershave lotion, but none of the sting. The creamy balm melts into your skin and you don't need any other lotion (though I usually spritz a bit of cologne or dab on some Cool Water or Tabac aftershave for the wife). Most highly recommended.

I finally "opened my eyes" recently and have switched from using cartridge shavers/canned shaving foams/ etc to the way shaving was meant to be done. Based upon the reviews, I purchased this product along with the Proraso shaving creme. Just two shaves in, I feel like I've emerged from the Dark Ages into the Light. This creme smells great, and feels incredibly great on my face and head (I also shave my head). I no longer feel my face burn and hours later, the scent lingers and the cooling sensation persists. I'll never go back to the overmarketed, overhyped days of "fast food" shaving.

My husband recently started using a straight razor to shave. He tried several different creams, and the Proraso Pre Shaving Cream was the one he found that worked best for him. He said that it softens his beard and opens his pores at the same time. It's got Eucalyptus which cools the face while at the same time the Menthol heats the face to open the pores. The Proraso Pre Shaving Cream is also good because it's not oily. If you have to wipe a spot off with your hand it does not leave an oily residue.
As of yet there are no drawbacks to the Proraso Pre Shaving Cream.

I love the Proraso line of shaving supplies especially the pre-shave cream. It gives you the closest shave possible and eases irritation. This is a great product and wish Target would still carry their line.

Some of you have likely seen my review on the Merkur Safety Razor, as well as the Proraso Shaving Soap. Well, I decided to take the plunge on a good pre-shave. I've used pre-shaves before and found them extremely lacking, especially in the softening department. For the record, this stuff works very well as a base for your shaving soap. It's got moderately strong menthol as well as a hint of eucalyptus behind it, and it will definitely clear your sinuses in the morning when coupled with a fresh, hot shower. And no, it does not smell like Noxzema. Noxzema has a sort of "creamy mint" smell, like Mint Chocolate ice cream. This one smells like you're standing in a eucalyptus forest.

I'd like to also go on record by saying that if you apply this first without fully rubbing it in, then apply the Proraso Shaving Soap directly on top, you'll experience such a relaxing sensation...it's hard to describe, almost spa-ish in nature. As if the barber shop were dead in the center of some spa. Trust me, it feels really good, and the blade glides right over to take the hairs out, even the stubble where you might not have had luck in the past. Your face will cool down quite a bit, almost like applying Icy-Hot.

The key is to apply this on a wet face. Applying it on a dry face is all fine and good, but then you're not benefiting fully from the moisture that is released when the cream interacts with the water. Also, it touts itself on Amazon as a pre-and-post shave cream...my honest opinion? The smell is too strong for a post-shave. I would opt something that is a little more subtle, such as the Proraso Menthol and Allantoin Aftershave Splash, which has a very light BRUT-ish smell to it, not nearly as strong as BRUT though, and it will settle in nicely while still giving you the same smooth skin.

Overall, highly recommended for a quality shave, not personally recommended as an aftershave. My opinion.

When I was living in Italy several years ago, a friend gave this to me when I had a cold. "Don't buy expensive tissue," he said. "Just use cheap tissue and put a tiny, tiny bit of Proraso on your nose."

He was right!

This stuff works wonders.

As a girl (who does not shave her face), I have no idea whether this works well for shaving or not, but it is the very best for anyone with a cold. If your soft tissue feels like sandpaper and your nose feels raw, Proraso will soothe and heal you.

Highly recommended. Also, it lasts forever.
