Pretty cheap for a 50" 1080p 3000:1 contrast t.v. right? Yeah, I had the same thoughts. Even with a few bad reviews (over the sound quality from the standard speakers, which were right on cue, you'd need a surround sound/external speaker setup) I still dove in after the "deal," however the phrase, "you get what you pay for," really fits well. I had this t.v. for a mere month and one week before it decided to simply shut off, with no warning, and wouldn't recognize any power whatsoever. If you are on a budget, but want a large flat screen, don't settle for this t.v. You'll want to spend the extra 100 bucks to get a better brand. (Proscan = R.C.A. by the way) If you want to get a good quality 50+" television, be prepared to spend no less than around 600$, because the quality under that isn't worth the money.

We bought this TV in April and within a week the screen went crazy. Took it back to ABC and got a new one. Also bought the extended warranty. The picture on this TV just went out, so back to ABC. Ps, the sound for me, no matter how I adjust is annoying. We had to buy a sound bar to fix it. You get what you pay for.

went to program a new cable remote and the whole tv shut down...couldn't turn on/off red/blue yellow screen, called in cable tech thought it was cables fault but he verified it was tv broke..called company they walked me thru a reset but didn't work....so boxed it up and had to take back....got a better tv in the end...paid a little more

I purchased a Proscan PLCD5092A-B LCD television just 1-1/2 years ago. It worked great, but now will not turn on. The red light goes to green, but there is no picture. At first, I could unplug, plug back in and would get a picture after many tries.
I called for service. The repairperson told me the main board needed to be replaced. The item costs less than $75.00. I found the main board on the internet, however, it turned out to be a different configuration and would not work. I called Proscan and found out it was sold to Curtiss. I called Curtiss and was told they do not sell parts.
I spend 8-hours over 2 days searching on the internet. It seems that the part I need does not exist in the US at this time. Often the part is available but rarely then the part is harvested from a TV which is either used or was broken during shipment to the dealer.
One parts supplier told me that Proscan was the worst TV for repair parts. Another told me to always stay with big-name manufacturers.
I hope to find the part. I hate to throw out a TV that is only 1-1/2 years old.
If I have to buy a new one, it will be a major brand such as Samsung, Vizio, or Sony.

I brought this TV in September. Rarely watch it. It randomly cut off & now it want cut on anymore. I have to unplug it several times to get it to cut on. Customer service is horrible and rude. Factory will only repair it if you pay for shipping which is a $100 +. I just waste my money on a 50".
