I was really excited to receive this product - who doesn't love a good massage? - and I opened it and used it as soon as it came this morning. I'm sad to report that I am disappointed. It's bulky, uncomfortable, and limited in use with regards to both positioning and massage type.

First, it has a very short (about 4') power cord. This is crazy-making. Why do companies do this? You need to be pretty close to an outlet to use it. For me it means that if I want to use it on the couch, I cannot sit in the middle of the couch - even though I have outlets on either side - I have to sit on one end or the other. If you want to use it in bed you're probably going to be able to use it only at the neck/head... unless you have an outlet right by the middle of your bed.

Secondly, be aware that it's pretty bulky. It's about 12 x 18", and about 5" thick. It weighs almost 10 pounds. It's like leaning on a few bricks! This is not a thin vibrating massage pad to slip behind you at your desk chair - it takes up some room and you need to adjust yourself on it to find a comfortable spot.

As I said, this is not a vibrating massage pad. It has a kneading action. It's basically a rectangle with a pair of balls in each corner - leaving a well with no massage action in the middle. The balls continuously rotate, providing a strong kneading massage. It's not exactly relaxing. You have no option of adjusting the firmness of the massage - only of adjusting the speed at which the balls rotate. It does have an option to be heated - and this works, although it takes a full 30 minutes for the heat to kick in.

What would you use this sort of firm spot massager on? Again, it's not a relaxing vibrating all over massage. I would say it would work best for kneading a stiff or knotted muscle. But the shape of the massager/placement of kneading balls make it somewhat awkward to position well. It works okay if you place it horizontally and sit against it - so it's massaging your lumbar spine. But it's not relaxing and it displaces your neck/upper back; you might massage your lower back but if you sit like this long enough you'll be stiff elsewhere. Placed vertically, it does not reach your traps (the spot I imagine most people would like to have massaged) - instead it pushes on your shoulder blades. You can lie with your head on it, but nothing is getting massaged as your head is in the 'well' in the middle and the kneaders are not reaching your neck/shoulders. I tried to lie on it so that it did massage my neck/shoulders, but then there's no comfortable place for my head - it has to hang off the back. You could also put it on the floor and put your feet on it.

I feel I have to give it 2 stars because it does what it says - provides a firm kneading heated massage. But it's poor design makes it's applications limited.

BOTTOM LINE: It is a heated kneading massager, but the firmness of the kneading balls can be uncomfortable, and the product design makes it difficult to position. If you're looking for a relaxing style of massager - look elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars PAINFUL!, January 26, 2010
This review is from: Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
As other reviewers have mentioned, this is not a relaxing massage. This is a deep tissue kneading massager with no vibration settings, though it does have a heat function. That being said, this unit is uncomfortable while it is turned on and don't even think about sitting upright in a chair and leaning back on it like a cushion unless you like being beat up.

The Jade Massager has 4 sets of hard rotating balls in each corner of this cushion (there is nothing in the center). I immediately noticed that the power cord is short at 5 feet long, so make sure you position your chair or bed within reach of the outlet. Naturally the first position I tried was that of sitting upright in my chair with it on my lower back and all I can say is "OUCH"! I then adjusted the rayostat to the lowest setting and it was tollerable, but the rotating balls still caused pain. Next I tried it on the backs of my thighs (as pictured in the instructions) and even the weight of my legs was too much pressure on the unit and made it uncomfortable. The heat setting is practically useless because the instructions say to not use the unit longer than 15 minutes, yet it took my unit over 20 minutes to get warm.

After experimenting with different positions for about a half hour I could only come up with one way that was somewhat comforting; if you lay the unit on top of the area rather than leaning into or putting leg weight on it, it is not bad. Basically I set it on top of my knees which felt "ok" and then flipped over and laid on my stomach and placed it on top of my back. The only problem with laying the unit on top is that the movement of the balls is so violent that it eventually falls off.

Overall I wouldn't buy this unit if you are wanting a relaxing vibrating massage. It does a good job of kneading the tissue but it is a very uncomfortable, unpleasant process. If there is an easier way of using this I wouldn't know because it only came with a 1/2 page instruction sheet, and 75% of that was mainly warnings, safeguards, and maintenance with very little on correct use of the product.

Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat

I couldn't wait to try this massager!
The massager itself is very effective for a deeper massage. It's a kneading, not a vibrating massage. I used this massager for my back, legs and feet. I don't think this is as versatile as other massagers especially for the little places like the neck and ankle.
While it massages, I would not consider it soothing but after the massage I feel less tense. I especially felt it worked the upper part of my back (above or near the bra closure)
On my lower back it was a little uncomfortable because it was hitting my spine so I put a towel there to cushion it and that helped considerably. But, I think with the towel and heat, the massager gets too hot so take care with using the towel because my massager stopped working. I did remove the towel, just used knead and let it rest and it started working again.
The heat with knead was working too after a rest.

It's bigger than I anticipated, 17.7 x 13 x 4.5 inches. The coloring is a cream with a pretty bright green. My power cord is white unlike the Amazon photo. It looks more like a pillow and its appearance is so that you can leave it out as part of a decoration for the sofa or bed. I encountered a problem where the power cord was too short. I had to get an extension cord. There is no outlet for where I would prefer to sit to enjoy the massager.

As far as the heat feature is concerned I did feel the warmth even with the towel. The control has a dial for low to high and that moves the kneading mechanisms to move slow(low) or fast(high), you can turn the heat on or just have the massager on knead.
This massager is heavier than I thought, a little over 8.5 pounds, so I imagine packing this for a trip would not be too feasible.
Overall, this massager does relax my back muscles and I really do feel better after using the Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat.
I included a quick video and hopefully you can see the kneading mechanisms working on low to high.

2.0 out of 5 stars I was needing this., March 5, 2010

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have been recuperating from surgery and have spent several weeks in bed. As a result, my back gets sore very easily. I was really looking forward to getting this and, hopefully, having some relief. I eagerly opened the box when it arrived.

First of all, it is quite heavy so if you are someone who has limitations on lifting heavy items, be careful. The device is also very thick, so it is difficult to position high enough on your back while sitting in a chair. It tends to drop down to a lower position. The cord is very short, so be sure there is an outlet nearby. The instructions are limited and say not to use for more than 20 minutes. I felt no heat in the 20 minutes I had it on. Leaning against the device was not uncomfortable, but it did not make my back feel any better. It is too big to leave out to keep handy, as well as the instructions direct you to store it in its box. When it isn't convenient to use and doesn't make your sore muscles feel better, you aren't likely to turn to it very often.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not painful when wearing a hoodie...quite nice, really., January 27, 2010

This review is from: Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Others have mentioned that the massage is painful...and I'm not sure if they're doing it sans clothes, but I've tried wearing a hoodie and sweatshirt, and it's really quite a nice massage. The heat is nothing to speak of - it certainly doesn't feel like a heated car seat. In fact, the "heat" is barely discernible.

The unit itself feels like it's made of solid, quality products and has a nice weight and feel to it. On that note, it's portable and you can massage whatever you want - except, for being portable, but AC cord is a bit short. Other criticisms: the instructions make no sense - likely a very bad English translation. And the text on the box looks like the descriptions are actually captions for the pictures. It's very odd.

As far as the product goes - it works as advertised, it pretty when it's all lit up (but you'll be using it, so it doesn't really matter what it looks like.) Performance wise...I can't really say its leaps above the competition, but it's certainly no worse. Other product I've used, Homedics SBM-500H Therapist Select Shiatsu One Massaging Cushion with Heat is roughly the same product with smaller massaging balls, a bit louder, and has less padding.

Overall: average to above average, due to quality feel and construction...lacking anything to really put it apart from the competition. (Maybe better if the "jade" aspect does something for you.)

2.0 out of 5 stars So much promise, yet so little use, May 20, 2010
This review is from: Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Pros:
-Nice color
-Rollers go DEEP for a hard massage
-Build Quality seems very well (besides the remote)

Cons:
-if you need a light rub, this is not the device you want to use. It really digs in there
-if you pick the heat option, it makes a chirpy noise
-You really cant even tell there is heat when you select the heat option
-It is very heavy and bulky
-since it's so heavy, if you're on the shorter side you wont be able to hold it up yourself against the back of the chair/couch so you get a massage in the wrong area
-Cannot use it in bed ( you need to be sitting straight up as if you were in a chair)
-Electrical cord too short and doesn't wind up
-Cheap remote

Overall. If you are one of those people that needs DEEP tissue massage on your back, this is it. Otherwise as a normal massage device, this device does not perform well. It seems like you can only use it when sitting down in a chair and focusing it on your lower back.

or whatever body part you are trying to massage. As other reviewers have noted, this is a device that performs its assigned task but with very significant limitations.

First of all, presumably in order to accommodate the shiatsu massage machinery, the massager is a good 5 inches thick so you can forget about using it in ergonomic chairs of any kind (which tends to eliminate most office use). You are pretty much stuck with the couch, the overstuffed chair, the bed, or the floor. What's more, as you will discover if you try to do anything other than sit with your back against it, you are going to need a bunch of thick pillows in order to drape yourself over it comfortably.

Second, as several others have noted, the AC cord seems ridiculously short at just over 5 feet, particularly for a device intended to be used in so many different positions against so many different parts of the body. In addition as others have also noted, the somewhat minimal enclosed instructions would have greatly benefitted from a proofreading by a native English speaker: "crude Jade's massaging heads with light-wave heating function"? Probably not the best translation.

Third, because of the strength of the massager care must be exercized to avoid injury; if you are in the habit of cranking your massagers to high to start, you need to resist that temptation here. Start low and only gradually dial it up.

Fourth, as others have noted, it takes a while to heat up.

Fifth, I for one am dubious about the magical healing properties of jade stones and any case wonder about a design that pairs a jade stone kneading head with a plastic kneading head at each corner.

I found this device uncomfortable to use in the most obvious way: vertical while sitting with my back against it; in order to reach my trapezoids, I have to stand it on top of something, and sitting against it too long I managed to injure myself from too high a setting. Interestingly, with some experimentation I found something it did very well: reducing the pain and stiffness in a wrist I had injured by falling with my full weight upon it. After nagging me for a month, this massager cleared it almost completely up in a single high power setting massage session.

So it's a mixed review for a mixed bag of a device. Prosepra makes a rather wide variety of massagers ranging from the Prosepra PM110 Massage Chair to a Prosepra Massage Pen, but the Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat does not appear to me to have been as well thought out.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I was excited to receive this product. I haven't had much experience with massagers before except for a full-seat massager that my daughter uses sometimes. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how one would use this particular massager. It is just small enough to massage one half of my back at a time. The cushion is rather thick. If I place it at the lower part of my back, I cannot lean all the way back in a chair. I have to sit up straight. This isn't very relaxing. The massaagers are also very hard. At first they pressed in certain areas of my back that made me jump as if someone had just goosed me or something lol. But then, it just got down right painful. It is much easier and comfortable to use a full chair size massager.
There may be other ways to apply this cushion, but I couldn't think of any. Perhaps if you were laying on your stomach and someone held it down on your back...I dunno. Anyway, I tried this a couple of times, gave up, and haven't brought it out of the closet since.

Dimensions of this product are about 15x11x4 inches and weighs about 8 pounds. Therefore while the massager is good, it is difficult to label is as "portable." It has many adjustable speeds to suit your needs. One thing that annoys me is that it requires you to turn it off every 10 minutes or so in order to prevent it from overheating. Also keep in mind that it is corded(not wireless,) which requires you to be near the electrical plug in order to use it. However, it does a great job providing a good relief 10 minutes at a time.

This review is from: Prosepra Ultimate Jade Massager with Heat (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
The picture looked really promising, the real product is a bit less.
As the picture shows there are 4 swiveling heads that are massaging your body.
Even though on the box it seems like you can use this product for any part of your body, it's really not that easy and comfortable.
We mostly use it for our back, mainly lower back since it's no high enough to reach our upper back when we sit on the sofa.

The features I do like about this product are :
1) The heating: really adds, and makes the massage feel a bit better.
2) The portability, you can rotate it, take it from room to room etc. Nice!

Other than that, it's just a fair basic massage tool, don't expect it to replace a real massage.
