Book Description

November 11, 2007
Millions of readers have thrilled to the astonishing true adventures of the tiny peasant who achieved ultimate prosperity during history's most turbulent epoch. Now, The Prosperous Peasant reveals the Secrets that guided him--and successful people the world over--since time began.

A colorful cast of teachers--the peasant-turned-samurai Hideyoshi, Kembo the Vengeful Priest, Fernao the Portuguese trader, the brilliant strategist Nobunaga, Daizen the ronin, and many others--bring to life five ageless Secrets of Fortune and Fulfillment in parables whose beauty and truthfulness haunts and inspires.

The key to Prosperity, readers learn, lies not in "techniques" or "strategies" but in ancient knowledge drawn from the great philosophies of China and Japan--wisdom more fundamental than any "how-to" advice.

Forged in an extraordinary collaboration between an acclaimed novelist and a Japan specialist who made his own fortune, The Prosperous Peasant will teach, charm, and motivate--but above all, its powerful message may change your life.

Begin your journey to prosperity and fulfillment today. Heed the ageless wisdom of The Prosperous Peasant!

This edition includes an all-new abridgment of Bushido, Nitobe's classic on the Eight Virtues of the chivalrous code of the samurai.

5.0 out of 5 stars Engaging stories with a great message, January 18, 2008

I like how this book combines myth with storytelling and a great, solid and true message. The message is something I have heard many times before (a lot of self help books say similar things) but what I find appealing is the way the book presents its advice, in stories. It drew me in. I felt like I was sitting at Hideyoshi's temple school, participating in the conversation and hearing the stories firsthand. The book includes a beautiful part about the difference between hearing/reading knowledge and applying it. A person can learn all the theories of a great teacher, but if you never use them it's only intellectual knowledge and you are no better than a fool. That message was my favorite part. So true

Wow, I didn't expect to be so inspired by this little book. A wonderful reminder of the power of gratitude. This would be a great addition to anyone's personal library, something to go back to from time to time for a refresher on what's important in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Timing, December 9, 2007
By
This review is from: The Prosperous Peasant: Five Secrets of Fortune & Fulfillment from the Samurai's Temple School (Paperback)
The Prosperous Peasant is an inspirational stop on the road to my own prosperity and fulfillment. As relevant now as they were to Japanese culture in the sixteenth century, Samurai Hideyoshi's 5 secrets of fortune and fulfillment are timeless answers to the simple question, "How can I achieve prosperity and fulfillment doing something I am passionate about?"

I really enjoyed this book.
