3.0 out of 5 stars Eh..., October 1, 2008
By
I'm a student at the U of Iowa (Go Hawks!) and of course, the first year I come here, the music department is wiped out from a flood. Being located in about twenty different far away places is not fun with a huge hard case. Therefore, this was pretty much a necessity. Anyways...

Granted, it's a gig bag and it does it's job (no more calluses from bad hard case handles). However, your horn can get pretty lopsided and uncomfortable; it's form-fitting lengthwise, but there's a ton of room left for it to flop around (I have a YEP 842-S for comparison's sake). I basically have only one hand free because I'm always holding the right strap up. It really makes you worry about the bell smacking the door frame every time you walk in a new room. It happened to me only once and no harm was done, so at least the case seems to be durable against little bumps along the way. Also, I thought the pocket on the front seemed a lot larger from other reviews on different sites. Sure, it's deep, but it's not big enough to hold a band folder. And once again, the more you weigh it down, the more it seems to sink slowly on the right.

Overall, I don't think it was quite worth how much I paid for it, but like I said, it works. I'd say ask and look around a bit more before committing to this.

Oh, and if you do buy it, the lead pipe should be on the side with the zipper (4th valve in the bag first). :)

I've been using this for the past few months, I LOVE it. I play a Yamaha YEP-642S, and as a student and musician, I couldn't stand using a hard case any longer. The only small complaint I have is that since its bell UP, its sorta top-heavy. So when using the backpack straps, you sorta have to make one of the straps longer than the other so it evens out the weight. But its AWESOME!
