They are comfortable, protect very well and are still perfect after 3 years of washes, awesome product.
Fits perfect beneath my shorts and offers freedon to move, I use it for downhill with no problems.
got these for my boyfriend for a snowboarding trip and he loved them - they really helped protect his falls!

These pads worked great while learning to snowboard. Fell a few times, and no bruising - barely felt the hits. Only things that kept this from 5 stars was that the sizing chart is a bit off and the shorts were a little snug and limited range of motion a bit (while strapping board on and off mostly) but somehow they kept wanting to fall down. Fixed that by running my belt through the pull-up loops on the sides.

Take a look at the picture for a minute and realize what you're getting into. If you're looking for maximum shock absorbency and hard shell padding, these are not the pads for you. These offer pretty much a bare minimum padding, which is exactly what I was looking for. They pad the hip bones and coccyx well enough that minor to medium bumps and falls won't "hurt". Though, it's not exactly as though you're landing on a cloud when you do fall. They breathe nicely and fit well. So, for me, a guy looking for just a little bit of padding and not a lot of bulk, these have worked very nicely. I give them three stars for two reasons 1) the coccyx padding does seem like it aught to be a little larger and maybe a tad thicker. 2) These really are not worth $60. I think I paid $40 for mine a while back. If you're willing to pay $60+, get something with more padding, your butt will probably thank you if you're a beginner!

I wear a 38 waist in pants and shorts, but my actual waist is 36. I'm 6' 0" and like my pants and shorts to fit a little loose. I'm typically a XL in everything, but with the Pro-tec under my boarding pants, I wanted it to fit snug. The large did just that. It was a little snug, but it didn't slide down at all. Hope that helps.

Overall these are great, using them for skiing currently. They feel a bit like hockey pads, and will give you some extra booty under snow pants, but they do what they are designed to.

    Pros:
Saved my hips on the first day of use coming off a huge rail wrong

    Cons:
The portion that grips your legs is very loose
    They will require constant readjustment

All in all they work, but I would recommend shopping around to really find the best solution that works for you as an individual.

I purchased these pads for my teenage daughter who is a goalkeeper. The padding on these is fantastic! The problem is the fit, These appear to be compression shorts from the photo, but don't fit like them. They are not cut like men's compression shorts, they seem to be cut for a curvy woman. They fit tight in the waist and loose in the butt and legs. I would think the fit would be even worse for a male, as she does have some hips. She is slim 5' 8" and 120 lbs and usually wears a men's medium compression short. We ordered these in medium first. They were huge, and we returned for a small. We will keep the small because of the great padding, but will need to have them taken in to fit. I advise ordering a size smaller than you usually wear if you want them to be fitted (however, the waist might be very tight).

After going the previous season without any pads at all, I bought these from Sports Chalet (on a whim) because I decided that having a tailbone bruise that lasts a month after the season's over isn't fun. I was going the next day and these were the best reviewed of the one's they had. If I had more time, I would've bought some better ones from Amazon...

I don't know that such a pair of impact shorts exists, but what I was looking for was something strong enough to where I wouldn't have to think twice about my tailbone while taking boxes and jumps. These are definitely not that... While these do make it less painful, they certainly do not make it painless. Though they aren't non-existent, my tailbone bruises are definitely less significant than they were without the pads.

I'd say these are ideal for people that are learning and will be falling, but not falling hard. For people taking jumps, boxes, and rails, I'd say find something stronger, especially for icy days.

I wear these year-round, snowboarding in the winter, DH biking in the summer. I toss them in the laundry after each use. They are comfortable, protect very well and are still perfect after 3 years of washes, awesome product.
