I was very careful to put on the encasement as instructed. Even so,both my husband and I ended up with tiny holes in the base where the corner protectors are. The fabric is too fragile for the area it protects.
We taped up the corners with duct tape and prepared everything. We had to duct tape the holes which defeated the whole purpose of the protector. It is not worth the money. Find a product for the box spring that is tougher.

This cover ripped within a few weeks of putting it on my box spring, rendering it useless. I bought it with the mattress cover, which is great, but the box spring cover is of poor quality.

I decided to purchase this product instead of the AllerZip version (which can be used for either the mattress OR box spring) because I didn't want to spend $85 for the box spring encasement. However, I did buy the AllerZip version for my mattress, and it definitely is better in quality.

The main difference is that this product is not waterproof. I was not concerned about any spillage reaching the box spring, so this product meets my needs so far, as long as it protects against bed bugs. I purchased this as a precaution for bed bugs.

It is easy for two people to put on the box spring.

If you want to save money on the box spring, go with this product. Both versions use thin material and can be punctured, so you must be careful when placing it into the bedframe.

I had a bed bug problem and they were nesting on the box spring. It takes months to get rid of them but because I used this on my box spring I trapped them inside (I guess that was what happened) and since then the problem is gone. Before putting it on the box spring I cleaned and, vacuum and sprayed just in case there were eggs around. If you follow instructions it will not rip.

I was battling those nasty little varmits for several months before I purchased this encasement. The key is capture them at the source. I tried diomatacious earth which is ok for border areas such as wall corners, bedpost,etc..but the key was the boxspring. This is where they were laying the eggs and migrating. It is important to ensure all sharp corners and screws are covered with tape or pounded down flat with hammer. Once the rails and corners are safeguarded, gently cover the boxspring and zip completely around. Carefully lay down on rails. Be sure to vaccum the whole area around the bed. Use Diomatacious earth around borders and bottom of bedpost. Its been three weeks and no sign of bugs! I can now sleep soundly. One note: The illustrations in the pamphlet show the mattress as opposed to box spring - Use this product on the boxspring.

Got this along with the mattress encasements, too bad that the boxspring encasement was of inferior quality.
I didn't like the material at all, it's like a stiff cotton or something, but it didn't hold up to our metal frame and even though we put down duct tape on any sharp corners and edges, the encasement still tore. I think it was due to the heavy moving or shifting my DH does (tear was on his side)
Even so, this had to be duct taped in many places in addition to the felt squares that are provided for placing on contact points with the bed frame. Too bad, because the company does some awesome mattress ones.

I am now purchasing boxspring encasements from another company and will have to 'double bag' the boxspring as I don't want to remove the first, just in case.

If you have a metal frame, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this. If you still insist on buying, then at least remove the plastic corners on boxspring to prevent any potential tearing.

I have a friend that ran into a problem with bedbugs. It was embarassing for her but it happens. Being in the bedding industry I did some research and found that not only do you need a high quality cover for the mattress but you need to cover the box springs (foundation) as well (bedbugs like to hide there). I was very familiar with Protect-A-Bed products and knew them to be very well made and worth the money.

I helped to put this on and I was a little disapointed in the thickness of this cover. It didn't tear but it could have if I wasn't so careful. Still, I think that it is the best one on the market and it you are concerned with bedbugs or dust-mites then you will want this encasement.

The cover is made of a paper-towel like material that tears too easily. I bought all of Allerzip's products - the mattress encasing, pillow and duvet covers. I followed the manufacturer's instructions precisely and installed the encasements with the help of a pest control professional. He complimented the quality of the other encasements, and I agreed they felt sturdy. But we were both concerned about the box spring encasement. It just felt flimsy. Sure enough, despite putting padding on the bed frame and exercising extreme caution, the box spring encasement tore during installation. It's just not sturdy enough for actual use. You'd be better off taping your $50 to your box spring with duct tape then using this encasement! The mattress encasement, on the other hand, is made of much better material. But consider using another brand for your box spring.
