5.0 out of 5 stars These Filters are Perfect for the DS Lite!
If you are looking for screen protectors for your DS Lite, then these are the ones you want to get. I tried using the ones that came in the Pelican package and they were crap. Unlike them, the Hori Screen Protectors (or filters as they are called here)went on easy, with NO air bubbles. They have stayed on solidly, even with much use of the DS's stylus pen, and you...

3.0 out of 5 stars How does one mess up a sticky piece of plastic?
Okay, this thing does exactly what it is supposed to do, it protects the screen. Never mind that the plastic is not exactly fitted to the touch screen, leaving a gap on at least one side, let's let that go for a second, as it doesn't really leave enough room for any kind of stylus damage. I got these filters because the ones I got the last time went up in price and I...

If you were ever thinking about purchasing a set of protective filters for your ds lite screens, then look no further because the nintendo ds lite filters by Hori are absolutely amazing. Two come in the package: one top filter, to reduce glare, and one bottom filter, to protect the touch screen from scratches. The question, though, is: how do they work? I admit that I haven't tried putting on the top filter, as I don't see a need to. Yes I realize that it's supposed to reduce glare, however the ds lite manual, in the first few pages, recommends that no filters be placed over the top screen, and as of now, I haven't had any real problems with glare as I mainly play at night... Perhaps later if I ever do put it on, I'll edit my review... As for the bottom filter... the essential one, all I can say is PERFECT!!! It goes on well with very small and few air bubbles, which can be pushed out, and improves the feel of the touchscreen. That's not to say that the filters feel sticky or anything, I just feel that they slightly improve the touchscreen feel, by making it less slick, however that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. The filters do leave about a 1mm margin on all sides, where they do not protect the touchscreen, however it's highly unlikely that there will ever be a game that you need to tap that close to the side... The space is so small that you hardly notice, plus it makes taking the filter off easier, and allows room for the air bubbles to escape; so believe me, it's a very good thing. As for the filter, once it's on you can take it off with some tape as you feel necessary, however there will likely be no need to (note that when you do take off the filter to clean or whatever, no sticky residue is left behind as the filter uses static to stay on). The filter protects well and feels like one with the ds lite; therefore if you were ever considering a filter for your ds lite, this is the one. Go get it now and protect your precious ds lite...

Never mind that the plastic is not exactly fitted to the touch screen, leaving a gap on at least one side, let's let that go for a second, as it doesn't really leave enough room for any kind of stylus damage. I got these filters because the ones I got the last time went up in price and I didn't feel like paying 13 bucks for a piece of clear plastic. These filters, however, are way too cloudy for my liking and they don't wipe down that well, streaking instead of coming clean. If you're willing to put in the extra cash try getting one of the ClearTouch Screen Protector sets, either Anti-glare or Crystal types, both are good, easy to apply and come with a card to smooth the plastic during application and squeeze the bubbles out. Of course one could just use a credit card for this, but it's nice to have one included.

The filter is VERY clear and still allows accurate use of the touchscreen. You will definitely not see any decrease in viewing quality. When I ordered this protector, I was expecting an absolutely perfect fit on the touch screen of my ds lite. To be honest, there is a 1mm gap on all sides of the touch screen protector. This might make removal and application easier but I dont know. The texture of the touch screen filter gets some getting used to, but looking at what happened to my old filter, I am very glad I bought one.

5.0 out of 5 stars great protection for DS screens, July 23, 2007

I bought a pack of crummy Pelican protectors at the local store, and they were really awful. I didn't use them at all, but ended up ruining them in the application process.

In comparison, these Japanese-made protectors from Hori are great. They are extremely easy to apply, and aren't magnets for dust like Pelican's. They look great, unless you notice the edge of the film you can hardly tell that it is there at all. Stylus use is smooth and accurate, and they are easy to wipe clean of rub marks and don't scratch much at all. I have been using them for about a month, on a new DS Lite with a couple of stylus heavy games, and they still look new. Also, they are pretty easy to remove, and do not leave any residue. Be careful, obviously, but they can come off if you want. That being said they aren't about to slip off on their own.

Only one caveat, I bought them from a marketplace seller who sold me the actual Japanese version. I believe that some Japanese ones are mislabeled which side of the film is "up" and which is to actually touch the screen. If you buy from the marketplace, double check, or if having trouble when applying, try flipping the protector. I had a little trouble with dust until I tried it backwards and then it when on super smooth.

I got these filters for my DS lite and they work wonderfully. You can hardly tell that the filters are there, and when the stylus touches the screen, it has a noticeably softer feel to it. They protect the screen well as i play a lot of Elite Beat Agents. The only downside is that the filter for the touch screen is smaller than the touch screen area.

After reading several reviews I decided to go with this brand - glad I did. Easy to use, no air bubbles and after being applied you can not even tell they are there (except for the little tiny place where it does not go all the way to the edge, but who cares) Great protection !!!

I used it to protect my Cowon D2 (also uses a touch interface) instead of a DS. Works great though.
