4.0 out of 5 stars much easier than replacing an ugly outlet
i have older (but functional) outlets in visible areas of my home. buying a nice new outlet and coverplate is $3 plus 20 minutes of installation including mucking around with the breakers. with this, you unscrew the old coverplate, plug it in and secure it with the provided screw. genius! it looks clean and new, even if the color is not a perfect match. i bet it can be...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly safe.
While the product does technically function, it won't give you a warm fuzzy feeling. I ordered three of these, out of those, only one will allow cords to plug all the way into the tap. The other two will only allow a plug to be inserted approximately halfway, leaving exposed contacts. Cheaply constructed and not particularly safe.

3.0 out of 5 stars Close, but not quite right., July 23, 2011

The outlet is fine for what it is. My only real issue is that the 3 of these that I purchased came in a bulk box - clearly cheaper than being individually packaged - which is GOOD, but the pack of center screws that secure the outlet to the wall were not checked. They were all TOO SHORT to clear the depth of the outlet, let alone reach the wall. Details matter ... not paying for packaging is a bonus, but having to hunt down usable parts is not.
P.S. A version in white would be Great!

This item works great for plugging in grounded plugs to a wall outlet and especially for converting 2 to 6 outlets. Only problem I had was that they didn't come with the screws for securing to the existing wall outlet - that was a disappointment.

Purchased it to fit behind a piece of furniture close to the wall. The ground plug is not very strong, don't use it where you have to plug/unplug often. But if you have an outlet behind a couch or dresser and need to inset plugs flush against the wall, it's either this or a right-angle extension cord. This does the job for me, I have no need to screw it into the outlet.

Photo does not match the product. The mounting screw is not included (scroll way down in the ad and look at the fine print in the description).

Just what I needed. Fits perfectly and all plugs go completely in. Did not include the mounting screw, but I didn't need it for my application. Perfect!

This does exactly what it's designed to do, fit behind furniture and still provide access to an outlet without having to continually move the furniture. I wish I'd have bought these years ago instead of fighting furniture and harshly bending cords, unnecessarily creating fire hazards. Definitely recommend.

This is the side tap with the slimest profile I've found. There are others out there that won't let you get your furniture as close to the wall as this one. I thought it could be another color, like ivory, but since it's usually hidden that's not a hardship.

Just the ticket for outlets behind bookcases and couches and loveseats. Who knows, not only makes for more outlets, but could even avoid accidents with twisted cords by using this, or something like that.
