A Tour Through Turbulent Times,
By Canadian Clergyman (ville de Québec) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Protestant Reformation (Paperback)
Lewis Spitz provides an accessible and accurate introduction to the Reformation in this suprisingly complete but easy-to-read book. In it he distills his lifetime of research into this period, providing the reader, both seasoned scholar and rank beginner, with a helpful overview of the persons and events of the half century he describes. His sections on the Continental Reformation shine particularly brightly. Although almost twenty years old now, it remains pre-eminent in its field. Its age means that it does not take into account more recent scholarship, but it still provides a tour de force when it comes to examining this turbulent period.

Good info but sometimes dry,
This review is from: The Protestant Reformation (Paperback)
Spitz has collected the works of several important people in the reformation such as Luther, Calvin, and others. I find this information to be important to have on your shelf for reference, especially if you are a member of a protestant faith. The pieces are kept in their original words for the most part and so (because of the time difference) can be difficult to get through. It's short and worth the read. It contains Luther's 95 Theses and some prominent writings of John Calvin.
