Well, here is what you need to know. There was a game series on the NES way back when called Mega Man, which had very little story line and the most amazing 8-bit music in existance. Then came the Protomen who made it their goal to flush out the story line in a Rock Opera about the rise and fall of Protoman, and then the redemption via Mega Man.

Very cool spoken word style lyrics and a very creative and hip presentation of a very dorky subject matter. Well in this set, those songs that were played with traditional rock instruments, are for the most part covered with the same MIDI style 8-bit music synthesizers that would have been used to make Mega Man 2's techno elite music.

Thus the Protomen take their concept back to the roots and reach another level of success. Take a listen, it is definitely not for everyone. Yet if you played and loved any NES game you most likely will love the music and become instantly happy.

This album is an 8-bit parody of an album by another band called The Protomen. This album has the music from The Protomen's first album and puts it into an 8-bit remix with no lyrics and parody names. They They are apparently owned by the same record label, so it makes sense. The music is really good just like in the original and is faithful to the original band so it gets a good rating from me. But it's not really by the Protomen, so don't be fooled.
