Prototype is the dynamic solo debut of Video Kid, the alter ego for New Zealand's Bret McKenzie. Bret is well known for his past work with The Black Seeds and as half of the folk comedy duo Flight of the Conchords whose self titled TV series is currently airing on HBO. It's also worth mentioning that McKenzie has a cult following from his role as the elf Figwit in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. As for the album, Prototype is a series of warm analog sound waves mixing dub, reggae, electronica and 70's pop sensibilities. It features guest performances by members of The Black Seeds, New Zealand's legendary Trinity Roots, Hollie Smith, Twinset and Age Pryor.
