5.0 out of 5 stars 4 years of French in high school finally pays off
Imagine if Plastic Bertrand had a female singer and wrote 10 songs as good as Ca Plane Pour Moi, and put them all on one album. Each song is treasure for your listening pleasure, even if you cannot parle Francais.

Prototypes, like Le Tigre, Devo and the B-52's, make music powered with electronics that truely rocks. Only the best ideas from 80's pop-rock...

3.0 out of 5 stars Meh....Not So Great
I heard "Je ne te connais pas" on that Mitsubishi commercial (isn't that a lame way of finding new music?) and really liked it. I checked Prototypes out online and liked a couple of the other tracks that I heard, so I got the album. This is a fun CD with a few good tracks--I listen to them now as part of my gym-workout lineup. I don't think this is a CD I could listen to...

Every song rocks, every song is tight, every song is brilliant. A perfect album.

I read a review about this album on a blog site and after downloading the free mp3 at the minty fresh web site, thought I would give the album a chance. WOW! I WAS BLOWN AWAY! It reminds me of M.I.A. meets Fantastic Plastic Machine and YEAH YEAH YEAHS. Its all in French, but don't let that scare you. IT IS ONE KICKER OF AN ALBUM! I LOVED EVERY SONG! CHECK IT OUT!

5.0 out of 5 stars I buy French CDs because of ads., April 6, 2009

I bought Trenet because of the Absolut ad that uses "Boum." I bought this because ot the Mazda ad that uses "Je ne te connais pas."

That said, this CD really grabs you - there's not a single bad track. Highly recommended, even if you don't speak French.

I really love this CD I don't even speak French, but the music is so good it doesn't matter. I've been listening to this CD for the last few weeks, and I still really enjoy it.

This is a fun CD with a few good tracks--I listen to them now as part of my gym-workout lineup. I don't think this is a CD I could listen to over and over again just for fun, but for energetic workout music, it's OK.

Even though I have no clue what they are saying, this is a great CD. It never gets boring. I always listen to it when I'm not sure what else to listen to, it puts me in a happy, energetic mood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Listening..., February 18, 2008
This review is from: Prototypes (Dig) (Audio CD)
I listened to just a couple thirty-second samples from this album on my headphones, and I bought the whole thing. I'm going on a week of listening to nothing but this. I don't speak French, but I know every word. (Kind of reminds me of that "Learn English" commercial!)

The music is really catchy but not overly trite to where you burn out on it easily. This really isn't my "main" kind of music, but I would group them somewhat with a couple other groups I like: CSS and Pizzicato Five. I have not gotten around to the gym since buying this, but I'm looking forward to hearing this while on the treadmill.

Now, I'm looking for other music in this same vein. Suggestions?

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of 2006, May 13, 2007
This review is from: Prototypes (Dig) (Audio CD)
The great thing is, this band CAN'T break big in the U.S. due to the French vocals. All the Bill O'Reilly-type francophobes notwithstanding, Americans just can't deal with foreign languages. All the better, IMHO. Listen to the album, and pass it along to your friends like a good joint. The Prototypes will be our own private stash.
