4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this
As a relatively young (young meaning anyone younger than Goldberg) independent I gave this book a try and really enjoyed it. I found myself disagreeing with some of the authors on a couple of points and really "seeing myself" in others. These are short essays that cover a range of topics in a variety of writing styles and perspectives. A nice reminder that American...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor content--Beware
I bought this book because it had Jonah Goldberg's name on it...and i love reading his work. Wow....what a collosal disappointment this book was! Goldberg put in a very short preface and nothing more. Ok...I said. Certainly he has identified some brilliant minds and master writers...or...atleast some insightful young conservatives. Negative. Negative. Negative...

Mr Goldberg serves up a dish of college level rants that was embarrassing to think of as the "up and comers" of conservative writing. Not one of these writers had a grasp on the core problems facing society today. Hell, not one of these writers could shake the reader from the sense of listening to a college dorm discussion.

I was highly disappointed in Jonah for passing this junk off to his fan base as having anything to do with his work.

if you are tired of reading about whining, bleeding heart liberals then get this book and read about "the next generation" of whining, angst-ridden conservatives. if i read one more essay that begins. 'when i was....' or 'how i saw the light' then i will just....(insert drama here) . it is too much to hear how these newbies have been disillusioned and now born again....come back in 20 years when you have experienced a life....left or right. do something, succeed or fail, then you will have something to write....this is drivel.

After the liberals all get together once again to whine, yell, shout, and light up a dobie with a glass of cheap California wine, the conservatives will be grilling huge steaks with their college grads in their back yards dolling out household chores since they are NOT employed but expected to chip in anyhow. WE can NOW finally guarantee that our youth did wake up because they cannot find jobs due to the liberals agenda. Liberals are like rabid animals on college campus' everywhere. These college grads cannot find a job even at Mickie-D's because of the illegals have them all who only speak Spanish. The college grads are NOW conservatives just because they left college with a piece of paper along with the dislikes of their liberal professors with nothing else to do; but whine some more & light up some more dobie who love the Mexican Cartels for the best pot. Thank God college grads now grow up faster when there are no jobs merely because of the liberal agenda. The parents can't kick em out because they have no jobs and their tired of supported the kids. So, the now adult grads are smarter than ever since many have student loans to repay. These kids woke up so fast who gladly left the Lefty's back at college and all turned conservatives in the REAL world. Thank God again you can't fool all of the people all of the time, just until college graduation and no sight of employment. Love this book, shows who is leaning right, the new young conservatives mulling around in the private sector, where succeeding is still the American Dream. Teachers teach, because they cannot. Still true.
