This is a great book for someone who loves Provence or who's thinking of visiting Provence or for someone who appreciates good photography. The book is packed with gorgeous photos. It reminds me of another similar great book "Paris: 500 Photos". I highly recommend it!

I bought this book brand new from Amazon because I wanted to see some nice pictures of the French hillsides and landscapes. The pictures are good (not great), but as soon as I started flipping through the pages, I noticed that they started to come off the spine like those cheapo postcard books you get at the swapmeet or tourist traps.

Don't waste your money on this book (like I did). I bought mine brand new, but because they used an inexpensive binding method, it'll always fall apart as soon as you open it wide to look at what you think are supposed to be 'great' pictures of Provence. The pictures are just OK - in my opinion. It's a small book, so it doesn't really do justice to those pictures (if they were really that great in the first place).

I purchased this book with the hope that it would provide inspiriation for painting .. and YES it did. On every page is a gorgeous photo of Provence and the surrounding areas. Wonderful scenic vistas , vignettes of life in France. This would make a splendid coffee table book as well as the inspiration to paint or visit the beautiful countryside.

Well worth the price. A beautiful picture book indeed.

The pictures are good but be careful:

- I ordered 12 books in English and I received 5 of them in English and 7 in French (they have the same ISBN 9782080301383) !

- the binding falls apart for several books as described in another review. This is very disapointing.

The best solution, go to Provence and take your own pictures

a lovely selection of nostalgic pictures--very much reminding me of happy times spent in France.

I rated this item as 5-star in spite of the fact that the book started to come apart almost before I opened it. Shame to the publishers, really. But the book is so good, the photos are so beautiful that it is worth buying anyway. A wonderful addition to Hugh Palmer's "Most Beautiful Villages of Provence".

I should have paid more attention to reviews of this book. The first time I opened the book the cover peeled away from the binding. There are some good photos but not much in the way of narrative.Provence: 500 Photos
