5.0 out of 5 stars One of those rare books, January 14, 2007
By
Charles M. Nobles (Tulsa, OK United States) - See all my reviews
(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Providence (Paperback)
This is one of those rare books that is just almost impossible to start and not finish in one reading. I promised to read this book at the behest of a friend and, quite frankly, was a little hesitant because I did not know the author and usually do not read so-called inspirational romances. How surprised I was to get hooked on not only the story but the wonderful writing style of the author. To be sure it has romance and inspiration throughout but is done in such a subtle, unobtrusive manner that the reader feels it not only belongs in the story but is absolutely necessary. The story is one of the trials and tribulations of a woman trying to keep her family and ranch together after her husband's untimely death in the Oklahoma Territory. There are villians and drifting ranch hands and some indians thrown in for good measure. The characters are believable, the writing is professional grade, and the message is one of caring, sharing, and the importance of family and home. This is not your typical touchy-feely type of book. It is truly worth the readers time.

This new author's style of writing captures the mind's eye. It is very easy to invision each character, and Ms. Noland's attention to detail is unsurpassed. This author knows her subject, and her passion shows through. Would love to see a prequel or sequel to this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intriguing Inspiritional Story, April 4, 2007
This review is from: Providence (Paperback)
The author's wisdom, common sense and attention to detail shines through in this book. I learned many things about life on a ranch in this creative and very believable story. Though there is light romance, the emphasis is on inspiration through life's trials. It is a good 'clean' read with an interesting plot as its foundation with twists and turns. Not that you're left hanging, I hope the story doesn't end here.
