The only reason I gave the mat a 4 is because the people at Cricut do not tell you how to use their mats to the best of their ability. The mats come out too sticky and ruin your paper because everything curls up. Before you use the mat, you can smooth is against a clean T-shirt a couple of times and enough lint attaches to it so it is sticky enough to hold the paper but not too sticky.
Once it loses its stickiness and won't hold your paper good enough to cut, you can take a blue glue stick and run it over the mat and let it dry. It will become sticky again. You can do this over and over, maybe 20 times to extend the life of your mat and saving money!

for those using the cricut machine, these are a must have. stock up. their adhesive is great and reusable, but depending on the paper you are using, the stickiniess may last 10 times, 20 times, or maybe more. if you plan on a marathon session, definitely pick up a few extra. this is the best price anywhere outside of [...] (same price) at [...] or hsn or qvc or other retailers you will pay double at the least.

#1. With free shipping or Amazon Prime, the price for these is typically a little lower on Amazon.com since many craft stores will not let you use a discount coupon on Cricut items
(since all that shipping material and effort are not very "green" -- see #2)

#2. These can be refurbished and reused over and over with some patience, elbow grease and at least one specific liquid adhesive (check on You.tube for video instructions)

#3. If you don't want to put that much work into it, see point #1
