Mixed Feelings,
By
This review is from: On the Prowl (Paperback)
On the Prowl contains two separate novellas.
The first one is Even for Me by Taryn Blackthorne. I'll be honest I extremely disliked this novella. The writing was horrible and that was sad because I really really wanted to like Aisling because I'm a huge fan of really strong main characters that are women. The one and only reason I forced myself to finish was because I wanted to write the review fairly and I knew I had to give the second novella a chance. The characters though weren't very well developed or written, they were almost caricatures of what the author thought they should be. The dialogue was very cheesy and stilted, plus what's with Aisling trying to fall into bed with the first guy she meets after the author has pretty well established that she has trust issues? Didn't make sense to me. The second novella was better, but very short. In fact when I was done I almost felt cheated. I mean I knew by the size of the book in my hand that neither one was going to be very long but it was almost like Kaye Chambers went "oh crap I have to end this I can't have anymore words!" and instead of finishing the story in a well thought out manner just chopped it off. I really liked Sasha and the dialogue was much better than in the first novella. Overall I gave this 3 out of five stars. The only reason it didn't get two out of five is because I did enjoy the second one and would even consider reading more about Sasha if Ms. Chambers decided to write a full length novel.

Unless you know you like Taryn Blackthorne's writing, I'd pass on this one. I liked the Kaye Chambers but struggled to get through the other one. If you have a kindle you can buy them separately.
