I Smell Another Hit!,
By
This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Pardon the pun, but I wolfed this book down over the course of two nights because I was so interested in the story it was hard to put it down. Sophie's back and feeling great now that landing the Southeast Airlines account has made her partner and gotten her the corner office she always craved. But her new top client seems to be keeping a few hot secrets from her while he tries to win his way into her pantyhose.Which may not be such a bad idea as the relationship between her and Heath seems to be waning just when she thought he was going to propose.
Tom, the Alpha werewolf is back in town- not only to complicate her life but also to pull her from the fire again as the Houston pack demands her presence and forcibly employs her talents. Not her auditing skills. With a mini-troop of made werewolves padding along after her and every magical creature in Austin popping up in her apartment Sophie's in for a very hectic Valentine's day. Someone will learn the secret of her true nature...and at least one relationship will end. But Sophie will realize that she has hidden depths. I would have given this five stars but towards the end there was a lot of confusing Aztec business thrown in and the editing in the book was not so great. As the author reached back to her first book in the series to explain current events, the last villains mother kept being mentioned. But the one they referenced was actually her aunt which was distracting. Also, I like for the heroine to be in demand but it seemed she was horny for every man in this book, which kind of makes it hard to take the romance seriously. But the positives far out weighed the negatives and I definitely recommend giving this book a read.

terrific Garou Texas werewolf tale,
This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
After her recent escapades with weres and proving her mom a witch was not a killer (see HOWLING THE MOON) Austin werewolf Sophie Garou plans on keeping a low profile like she used to have before her recent problems. She especially prays the powerful Houston pack ignores her solo existence in the midst of them.
Instead, the pack leadership demands Sophie come to them or else. She has no choice if she wants things to remain positive with her boyfriend Heath and at her accounting firm Withers and Young where she made partner. The Houston pack is outraged by her living inside their territory as strays are normally unacceptable, but what makes her worse in their lupine eyes is that the half-breed has been inside their turf under the werewolf radar screen for a few decades. To make amends and calm their fears of a rogue, she agrees to spy on the San Antonio pack, but quickly realizes she is not a good undercover agent and her new accounting client Southeast Airlines CEO Mark Sydney seems to be sniffing around her an awful lot making her wonder if he is ON THE PROWL with her his target. The second Garou Texas werewolf tale is a terrific follow-up to a strong opener due to the heroine's actions and reactions as she no longer can hide under the radar scope. Sophie cannot understand how her world has crumbled so fast. However she is strong perhaps because she is the offspring of a witch and a werewolf; so faces her issues with courage albeit reluctant bravery as she would rather hide. Fans will appreciate her howling adventures that give biting meaning to the modern day wild west. Harriet Klausner

Fun read, interesting details,

This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have really enjoyed this series and can't wait for #3. The author shows a wonderful sense of humor while keeping the plot jumping. Yes, when it comes to fashion and external trappings, our heroine is shallow. That just adds to the underlying humor. If you are looking for serious moral lessons, read Pilgrim's Progress. If you are looking for a reluctant female werewolf with seriously unusual powers, a werewolf whose human shaved legs transmute into shaved wolf legs (!) and who is embarrassed by her mother's being a witch, go for this series and have a good time.

Tales of an urban werewolf 2,
By
This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
'On the prowl' is the direct follow-up to 'Howling at the moon'. Due to events in that novel, Sophie Garou - auditor, fashionista and werewolf - has been discovered by the werewolf pack that claims her hometown Austin, Texas, as their territory. She has three choices: Give up everything and become a low-position member of the pack, leave her home and job, or spy for the pack on some dangerous South American werewolves invading Texas. Spying it is, and while Sophie stumbles from one dangerous situation into the next, she also has to make a choice between no less than three men: Her boyfriend, a human with no clue that she's a werewolf; the attractive werewolf-enforcer Tom; or her client Mark, who may seem human, but is something completely different...
Just like the first book, this is a suspenseful urban fantasy novel with a lot of humour. Unlike the first novel, I think the plot could have used a bit more polish and explanations towards the end to be really convincing. Apart from this, the book was very entertaining and much fun and I will definitely buy the next book in the series.

This book was absolutely delightful. I usually read dramatic paranormal fiction, like Kim Harrison and Charlaine Harris. But I thoroughly enjoyed this story-line. It is humorous, romantic, and suspenseful. The series has lots of potential for the future.

Sophie's On the Prowl,
This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
The only thing Sophie Garou has always wanted is to live her normal, human life. So far, so good. She just recently got a big promotion at her job, she's fairly certain her boyfriend of more than one year is about to pop the big question and overall, things couldn't be any better. That is, until she receives an email from the alphas of Houston ordering her to go to a meeting with them. Or else. The Houston pack is not happy at all that she's managed to live under their noses all these years and they're not about to let it continue on.
She doesn't have much of a choice: either she joins the pack or she dies. And she'll be damned if some pushy alpha makes her leave the home she's know for the last twenty-eight years. To only make matters worse, her boyfriend, Heath, seems to be spending a little too much time with his new associate, who is, unfortunately, gorgeous and her relationship with her biggest client, Mark Sydney, is crossing lines into down-right intimate. Sophie has to decide whether she's going to join the Houston pack or not, because if she doesn't join them, and fast, then she might just end up dead. On the Prowl is a great sequel to Howling at the Moon, the first of the Tales of an Urban Werewolf series. Ms. MacInerney has written a greatly entertaining, hugely funny story. Sophie's definitely in the some hot waters and she has to found a way to come out unscathed. The super sexy werewolf, Tom, is back into town and their chemistry is more explosive than ever. I was a little bit confused at the end with some of the Aztec plot but it didn't dampen how much I enjoyed On the Prowl. It's a delightfully funny story and I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

This review is from: On the Prowl (Tales of an Urban Werewolf, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved the story and the author is a comic genius, I found myself, quite frequently I might add, falling out laughing. The writing is not bad at all, it really is a good read.
As I stated in my review of the first book, Sophie is not your ideal heroine, actually she is anything but that so don't go into reading it thinking she is some champion. Sophie ONLY, I mean ONLY, looks out for herself. I mean this girl makes out with the guy that is dating her best friend, she cheats on her boyfriend, never mind all of the lying she does, she recklessly engages in situations (she gives no forethought to the consequences of her actions, no planning, nadda). She is super selfish, immature, there is nothing incredibly or honorably compelling about her. But then again, look who her mom is, someone who spends her time casting love spells and such on people. I don't think compulsion, forcing people to do things against their will is anything but noble or good. I did enjoy reading it and I will buy the next one.

I picked this book up at the book store having never read any of Karen MacInerney's books before. I am so glad that I did. I enjoyed reading Sophie's adventure. I absolutely loved the humor the author brought to the story. She kept me laughing throughout the book.
I didn't know this book was the second in a series when I purchased it. I am going to purchase Howling at the Moon because I enjoyed this book so much.

What a great read. I read the first in the series, and this second book is so much better. I felt the first book dragged for me, but I made myself get through the book. I thought I might as well try the second in this series. And, WOW, I am glad I did. I loved the heroine, Sophie. She is funny, brave and loyal. I wish I had a friend like her. There were parts of the book, I was howling out loud in laughter. I can't wait until the next book comes out.

eh. on the prowl.,
This review is from: On the Prowl: Tales of an Urban Werewolf (Tales of an Urban Werewolf Trilogy) (Kindle Edition)
I kind of liked the book because it was a fun and easy read, but there were more points that I didn't like. Such as how sophie is unfaithful and willing/able to cheat on her boyfriend with a clear conscience. She never even seriously considers breaking up with him b/c of her infidelity. she even calls her boyfriend by another man's name by mistake at one point. so, while sophie is on the prowl throughout the story--she's more on the prowl for every goodlooking man from her friend's boyfriend to her client than she is on the prowl for clues.
