Delicious Network Card!
This is a very healthy card, but is also delicious thanks to the creme filling (yum!). If your wifi doesn't include sorbitol, this one is highly recommended.

Upgrading made easy
I find that upgrading is made much easier now that I can simply eat my old hardware when it's time to upgrade. However, I'm not fond of the promiscuous mode aftertaste that Orinco cards have. Perhaps if you can train yours to stop sniffing other computers, then you might be able solve this. -- James

For those of you that don't understand what the other comments are about, you should know that although Amazon has fixed the site in the meantime, the original Technical Specs on this card read exactly as follows:One 6.5-ounce package Made with enriched wheat flour and natural vanilla flavoring 100% cholesterol free and sweetened with sorbitol America's number one brand of sugar-free cookies Creme-filled, vanilla cookies perfect for low-carb diets Quite funny, I know. As far as a real review goes, I own two of these cards and can say that they perform even better than more expensive ones. The Orinoco chipset is great, reception is good, never had a problem with this card.

End of product life,

I had a Dell Optiplex desktop and it was time to upgrade. Simple enough -right?Well, after opening up both cases and unistalling and reinstalling the hardward -guess what? The product does not have drivers that support Windows 7 and the XP ones do not work (I had HAD to try something). This is really unacceptable. DO NOT BUY ANY PROXIM PRODUCT. I've had this PCI card only for about 3 years, not like 20! I emailed customer support and got this response: "Thank you for contacting Proxim Technical Support. With regards to your query about the drivers to support Windows-7, I'm sorry for the fact that as of now we do not provide any drivers for windows 7. Though I'm not sure of when this would happen, However to meet the business requirements proxim might come up with drivers to work on windows 7. Please use the following link to check for the available drivers for the Client card: Answer Title: ORiNOCO 8482 11a/b/g PCI Card download and documentation Answer Link: [...] And as we have answered your query, we are also closing this ticket for now" |
