5.0 out of 5 stars Very Practical Guide to Therapies for Depression, February 17, 2004
This review is from: Prozac: Questions and Answers for Patients, Family and Physicians (Mass Market Paperback)
This book answers every imaginable question about Prozac. The author is also forthcoming about cases where Prozac has created strongly negative side effects, but makes the point that such instances are rare. He particularly makes it clear that the distinction between unipolar and bipolar depressive disorders is one of degree rather than kind. More broadly speaking, this book is an excellent primer on the nature of various depressive disorders. A lot of useful information is packed into this little book!

This book is one in a million to me. It has really helped me to understand my depression. The book has a self-rating mood scale chart. I made copies so I can rate my moods over a periods of weeks/months to be able to self-evaluate my moods/depression. Through the course of time, I was able to see actual results. This book is very informative. If you or anyone you know is thinking of having your/their Dr. prescribe Prozac, I would strongly suggest buying this book. It is the "Everything you ever wanted to know about Prozac, but was afraid to ask" kind of book. It's not only just a book, it's a life saver!

1.0 out of 5 stars dangerous dis/misinformation, May 23, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Prozac: Questions and Answers for Patients, Family and Physicians (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm sorry I couldnt give this book a negative rating. What I think we have here is a book written by the manufacturers of prozac to encourage it's further use, misuse, & abuse. The "writer" makes global statements about how ALL psychiatrists so whole-heartedly believe in this drug. This is dangerously disingenuous and woefully misleading as other doctors have reported and overwhelmingly documented the major addictive properties and brain damage, like rebound, this drug, in point of certifiable fact, can cause. He's egregiously & horrifically in error in saying that the only opposition comes from the scientologists. He even contradicts himself when he talks about all the side effects and then goes on to say the drug is totally harmless. Not enough bad can be said about this book. Additionally,as dangerous a drug as prozac is documented as being, it is one of the drugs that has helped to establish that the FDA is no protector of us as they ignored all the reports that should have kept this drug off the market. Read this maybe only after you've read some factual, impartial,well-researched stuff, like anything from Dr. Peter Breggin.
