Review

Prudent Advice eschews the obvious and embraces instead the importance of qualities like curiosity, wonder, adventurousness, and empathy. Prudent Advice spoke to me as a mother and a daughter; Jaime's own daughter is one lucky girl. Allison Arieff

This book of insightful observations, originally compiled by author Jaime Morrison Curtis for her baby girl, will positively inspire your parenting. --Pregnancy Magazine

..a mix of practical info, thought-starters, and simple suggestions, each are reminders about the type of women we strive to be and the type of women we want to raise.  Our advice: Get one for yourself and one for a little lady you love.
--DailyCandy

...The 500 pieces of advice range from simple, sage sentences to longer anecdotes infused with humor and heart...perfect for dipping into whenever you have a spare moment, especially in moments of parental doubt. --OhDeeDoh

Whether you're a mother or a daughter (or even a father or son), you'll be touched by lovely Prudent Advice. It's not jam-packed with cutesy anecdotes; it aims for greater universality than that... --Sunset Magazine

This book is so lovely. I bought it on the advice of a dear friend. I must say I was hesitant at first. I assumed I probably wouldn't agree with a whole book of advice for my daughter. After all, I hate being told what to do and I especially hate being told how to raise my children. But as I read through the book I realized I was very wrong. This book is so poignant and beautiful. It's advice any person from any background could understand and relate to. And, it's funny! I kept trying to imagine the author and her beautiful daughter as I read it...flipping to their photo at the back. What a lucky little girl. Prudent Advice is funny and serious and poignant and meaningful all at the same time. Well done Ms. Curtis! I would highly recommend this book to just about anyone. I've purchased several copies for the holidays this year and I look forward to the next release from the author. Bravo!

The world of advice books is too often hokey, schmaltzy and trite. Prudent Advice stands apart as honest, open and smart guide for women everywhere. Some are funny: leggings are not pants ( a personal favorite), others helpful: put a towel in the sink when washing fine china, and still more poignant and true: create a sense of family wherever you are. I've been gifting it to every woman I know.

Curtis is an astute writer with great insight into the mother/daughter relationship. What a lucky little girl Scarlet Jane is! This is a tome to share with one's own mother or daughter. Jaime gets to the heart of what we are feeling, and puts it down in language that is engaging and thought-provoking. I found so many of the entries to be "a ha" moments. The book is populated with wonderful art, great insight and just plain fun. I think any new mom would love reading this little gem. I look forward to what she will write next.

This compact book is overflowing with thoughtful advice and beautiful art. Don't think Emily Post here; more like what you would want to hear from your dearest friends as you enter the world of motherhood. Equally enjoyed by my husband, who turned page after page, nodding his head in silent agreement, and occasionally mumbling a "so true" or "yup" when a piece of advice really struck a chord.

This book is a perfect balance of advice and touching anecdotes. While reading through the book I found myself jotting down notes, acknowledging lessons I can't wait to install in my daughter and tearful memories of my mother's advice. Every mother would appreciate this well thought out and designed book. Never too preachy and always entertaining. I recommend this book to all mothers.

I'm not a parent, but think Prudent Advice applies to all of us! Jaime has written a book that is both humorous in parts, and very applicable to our every day lives! I am giving her book to several of my friends as gifts, both young and young at heart, and to parents and singles alike! Am going to buy a few more...Looking forward to what she will write in the future!

After my daughter graduated from high school, I found this book. Its advice is timely and contemporary and fun. I annotated the book over the summer with insight of my own and stowed it away in her college gear. She read the book and enjoyed it all after she moved into the dorm. I'll need another copy for my other daughter soon. Highly recommended!
