Psalms true to thier intent - good news for EVERYONE, September 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Psalms Anew: In Inclusive Language (Praying With the Hebrew Scriptures) (Spiral-bound)
This is an intentional experiment - and a successful one. The language of the psalms is freed from the limitations of old language, insensitive translation and the gender mores of a specific culture. The spirit of the psalms, and the intent of their Author, shine through. Now the psalms are unburdened of gender-specific language, and speak to everyone. Neither the intent of the original language nor the full message of this poetry is compromised. The translations are authenic and fully based on good sources, plus the common sense of its experiment. Well recommended.

A welcome departure from gender specific language, January 14, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Psalms Anew: In Inclusive Language (Praying With the Hebrew Scriptures) (Spiral-bound)
This translation is so meaningful to me as a woman of the nineties. If someone wants the "real thing" they would have to read the Psalms in Hebrew! Not many of us are able to do that! Any translation that stays true to the original message while making the scriptures more meaningful to 21st century readers is definitely a step in the right direction.

Great Worship Resource, March 10, 2010
This review is from: Psalms Anew: In Inclusive Language (Praying With the Hebrew Scriptures) (Spiral-bound)
This collection of the Psalms remains faithful to the original text while using inclusive God language. Each psalm is given a theme title and verse markings are included in the margin. This is an attractive large print edition that will be welcomed by worship participants as well as leaders.

Not the Psalms, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Psalms Anew: In Inclusive Language (Praying With the Hebrew Scriptures) (Spiral-bound)
Another vain attempt to replace the real scriptures with a falsified set. If they don't like what is written they just rewrite it and try to force everyone else to read their version. I'll stick with the real thing.
