Most Helpful Customer Reviews

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Doug Erlandson TOP 50 REVIEWER on October 4, 2014
David Dickson wrote his commentary on the Psalms more than 350 years ago (1655). Just as the Psalms are relevant today, so is Dickson's commentary. As a pastor I preached on a number of the Psalms, and I often used this commentary to help me find practical applications. This is a strong points of this commentary, since Dickson is adept at finding lessons in the verses of each of the Psalms. His commentary on every Psalm is preceded by a brief overview of the Psalm as a whole and its contents.

The commentary is for anyone who desires to have an in-depth understanding of the Psalms or who enjoys reading the Psalms for the purpose of meditation. While the language is sometimes archaic, it is well written and quite understandable to us today. It is truly a treasure.
