Kindergarten-Grade 3—Each psalm expresses feelings familiar to children: fear and uncertainty, comfort and contentment, amazement and gratitude. The sacred songs, paraphrased in simple, child-friendly language, celebrate the beautiful world, which is protected by God's all-encompassing love, and provide a sense of reassurance. Psalm 23 reads, "God is my shepherd./He leads me in the right/direction. And even if I have to/walk in a dark place,/I am not scared./I know nothing will hurt me/if I walk with God!" Organized in numerical order, the selections are printed in a large, readable font. The book ends on a joyous note with Psalm 150, "Hallelujah!" On each spread, the verse faces a full-page illustration. The magical paintings feature exotic settings, bold outlines, and rich hues. They are filled with images of children and the natural world. The final psalm is accompanied by a picture of three children dancing and playing musical instruments under a golden sky, which adeptly mirrors the celebratory tone of the collection.—Linda L. Simple, direct phrasing of the Psalms so that young children can relate. Psalms are the main thing that I read out loud during Bible time to son at his age so he has enjoyed having some for his own. Every two pages features several sentences from a specific Psalms. On the oppossing page is the illustration for that particular pharaphrased chapter. The book dosn't rewrite, just pharaphrase so some of the sentences don't exactly flow or talk about the same thing but they do reflect the Psalm they are paraphrasing.
The art work is ok, quality but not exactly my style. Rather fanciful and not always a reflection of the Psalm. Son enjoyed. Seems to be Biblically correct.

When I saw Psalms for Young Children, I new it was going to be a favorite for my 4 and 7 year old! We love this book for several reasons. This book has helped my children to express feelings of sadness, fear, love, and joy. When they are reading, I see a sense of peace and comfort come over them. The Psalms are paraphrased in a very child-friendly way, with a large easy to read font (great for early readers). Each page has a full -page colorful painting, which will inspire your child to also want to make a picture for God. This book has inspired us so much, that we now wake-up each morning and write our own psalms for God! Praise God for this book, it has been a true blessing.

We borrowed this book from the library and my kids loved it. They, ages 8, 6, and 4, took turns reading the Psalms. We finished the book much to the dismay of especially my oldest, he cried! So, I bought it for them for Christmas.
The book came promptly and in great condition. I'm sure we'll enjoy for generations.
