Product Description

Pseudosix is a subtly unusual rock band from Portland, Oregon. Their music reflects an affinity for the carefully crafted song, but is also permeated by layers of spontaneity and raw emotion. Melodic and vocal driven, theirs is a sort of dark and scary pop. Well-honed vocal harmonies pave a delicate path but seeping through the crevices is an underlying tension that makes for restless sleep. The self titled sophomore release was well reviewed by CMJ, Pitchfork, Amplifier, Willamette Week, the Stranger and many others earning them opening slots for the Decemberists and Helio Sequence.

This band quotes many influences from the last 40 years. Beach Boys, Pavement, Beatles, Built To Spill. But where a band like the Deadly Syndrome really gets their own sound out of it, not happening here.

When I first stumbled upon the band's first effort Days of Delay I was impressed to be sure. This new release goes miles beyond what they had previously achieved. While sometimes maintaining that similar pseudo-depressing tone of their first album, it comes off much more refreshing with a bit more variety.

All in all I have no idea why this band isn't going places. BIG places.
