The first 17,000 words of a science-fiction novel due to be released next year!
Cerrekk becomes an instructor for the psionically gifted. Excellent salary- shame about the faculty, the students, and the people who want to kill him.
Cerrekk is a talented telekinetic. He's acted as a bounty hunter, a soldier, a private tutor... all the usual callings for a man who can tear off someone's arm by proxy.
He gets himself fired by a school, only for a different academy to hire him on the spot and whisk him away to a nice, clean, developed planet. Much to his distaste, the place has more money than sense.
Cerrekk's assistant suffers from a horrible mental condition known only as "optimism" and the elderly principal is so potent a psychic that he inadvertently forces his memory loss on other people. He's also pretty sure that the academy's caretaker is actually an unstoppable cyborg killing machine, mostly because he used to work with him.
The monotony is broken when someone repeatedly tries to kill Cerrekk- which he's used to. The problem lies in the thousands of school children with extraordinary talent, but zero common sense.
Oh, and he suspects that the attacks have something to do with an old friend-turned-immortal-cosmic-horror-with-a-grudge. He's still a nice guy though, honest.
