Being a PS fan since '98 (hooked from their pitchshifter.com album), and also being just a *tad* bit dissapointed with Pitchshifter's last album "Deviant", Im more than happy to announce I am COMPLETELY blown away by this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars a sad change
when pitchshifter announced that they would release a new cd, i already thought i would be something like this. but psi is even worse than my low expectations. while i was pretty disappointed with the change they made on pitchshifter.com/deviant there were still enough good songs to keep them at least decent, listenable albums. after listening to psi a couple of times,...

5.0 out of 5 stars Pinnacle Of Their Style!, September 26, 2004

Being a PS fan since '98 (hooked from their pitchshifter.com album), and also being just a *tad* bit dissapointed with Pitchshifter's last album "Deviant", Im more than happy to announce I am COMPLETELY blown away by this album.

Sadly, Pitchshifter has since disbanded as I write this review, and the members off doing their own things, but Id be lying if I said they didnt go out with a bang on this album. It is, without a doubt, Pitchshifter's ultimate accomplishment, and entirely completes their unique brand of music.

Like many have stated, its somewhat of a melding of the styles from both pitchshifter.com and Deviant, but the result is far more amazing than any could have imagined. The energy is non-stop, the guitars are always riffing like mad, and the drumlines are constantly catchy and rhythmic. The first track "Stop Talking (So Loud)" sets you up with a calm groove at first, almost fooling you into believing this really isnt Pitchshifter. But then it explodes into a fury of drums and riffs, and from that point on its non-stop head-pounding digital metal (closest I can get to putting them into a genre).

Its sad that Pitchshifter is no longer around anymore. I can only hope they get back together, and find a way to trump this utter masterpiece of an album. If you enjoy rock, techno, punk, or drum and bass, and arent a crabby old fart, pick this album up IMMEDIATELY. Check out Pitchshifters other albums too. You will not be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate in Metal, March 19, 2003
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
This CD was recommended to me by a friend. At first, I had speculations seeing as I had never actually heard of them before (gulp). The first track I listened to was of course, Track 1, Stop Talking so Loud. Hmm, I thought. Nice start. Good rhythm. Then good vocals. Then suddenly, from nowhere, the cool little track burst into an huge, insanely heavy chorus. Then, after returning back to the normal side of things, it did it again. Except this time it exploded on for a longer ear-whacking spree.

Then there was track 2. Eight days. Cool start, with the 1234 leading me on to the huge guitar. Catchy, heavy song. The next few songs were also amazing, with MyKind's amazing screaming guitar halfway through.

Track 7 is my personal favourite, with it's speedy rhythm that's amazing in the pits.

PSI is truly a work of sheer talent and love of music. Sadly, Pitchshifter will be no longer, but that's not until the release of their new LIVE ALBUM!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ....shifting into high gear, May 30, 2004

This is my 1st Pitchshifter CD. It definitely will NOT be my last. I like the mix between industrial (lite) and electronics (not overdone). The singing is right on par for the music, and the music is topnotch. The songs flow from one to the next, and each one is worthy of standing on its own. If I had to nail down a favorite, it would probably be Misdirection, but there are 3 or 4 others a half-step behind. If you like this type of music, you wont be disappointed. Lastly, they sound NOTHING like Korn.

Pitchshifter have changed over the years from industrial grind to scything electronic noise to charty chorus filled singalong songs. On new album pSI they havecombined themall to amazing effect. Pitchshifter rock! they have the heaviness and the songs! Heavy music with a catchy edge that'll have you hooked from the first listen. Buy

and id like to rise above you.
and id like to see you falling down.
feeling.nothing.down, your feeling theres nothing.

when i first heard this song down the first thing i did was obtain a copy of the album to listen to, and ive been listening since. its very easy to get lost in this cd with all the pounding drum and bass, while the guitar just assaults your ears with its ideosynchrocy with the singers voice. if you likes this bands first cd, www.pitchshifter.com, then youll love this album, unless your an idiot of course. but you dont have to hate because your own paltry musicical skills will never compare to this band . jealousy rules us all i understand.

5.0 out of 5 stars PSI = The Future, August 28, 2002
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
This CD is one of the best I have ever listened too! I saw the 1 star review of the CD and I must say they sound *nothing* like KoRn, and Pitchshifter's best album *was* ... NOT infotainment! PSI has out done their past album pitchshifter.com and will not be leaving my CD player anytime soon. Every song is catchy, heavy, with great vocals and a positive message..you can't beat it. A must for anyone that likes true metal. 5 full stars on this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sad that I'm late to the party, June 21, 2008
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
This is a fantastic album. I had the [...] album, and loved it. Listened to it non-stop for a few months. Deviant came out, and it was... okay. They seemed a lot more mellow.

I didn't bother getting this album when it came out because a friend of mine told me it was more Deviant. Having just purchased the mp3 album, I can safely say he could NOT have been more wrong. This is a phenomenal album. Very angry, very loud, great hooks... oh man.

I'm so sad that I'm really late to this party, but man... what an album!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Cd, May 21, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
Seems the Pitchshifter fans are broken into two camps. Fans of the harder industrial tinged band(more like Ministry) pre [URL], and those who became fans of the drum&bass influenced hard rock sound. Unfortunatly for the fans of the old stuff, those days are long gone. However, for fans of the new stuff(which is imho much much better) its a great cd. Better then Deviant, its sound is placed somewhere between that cd and the excellent [URL]. Im hoping eventually they will get the success they definatly deserve.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perennial underdogs, May 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
I think Pitchshifter have grown tired of bouncing around from genre to genre and label to label... Or maybe they've found their signiture sound and are reluctant to stray too far from it. Regardless, PSI is basically a faster, heavier Deviant. If you were frustrated by Deviant's plodding pace and overall staleness, PSI will probably make you happy, 'cause they at least try to address the problems that were so evident on their last LP. If Santuary gives it the right push this could be their biggest album yet, I think. All this newfound commercial accessability comes at a price, though... along with ... Deviant, PSI may be relegated to the bargin bin in five or ten years time.

5.0 out of 5 stars PSI is godlike..., May 19, 2002
By
This review is from: Psi (Audio CD)
sorry, but i just had to sign up to amazon and write a review for this album after id seen that only one other person rated it, and they rated it at 1 star?!?! this album is godlike and everyone in the world should worship it like a bible. Every tone is genius, including a crushing sound from a wall of guitars all digitalised with even catchier tunes than before. If you dont own this album.. buy it now ...
