By A Customer
This review is from: Psyched to Win (Paperback)
As a Trainer with 12 years experience I found the information to be outstanding. Applicable and effective in all sports. Unlike many others who have read this book,I chose this book as a(School) course for earning CEC`S.I found the book to be repetitive and not well written.Others who studied it agreed with me.

Tired of Choking! Get ready to be a consistent WINNER!, February 6, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Psyched to Win (Paperback)
You want to improve your game? Stop heading right out to the field, course or court. Take a moment and think about all of those times when your performance during the game fell far short of your practice levels. What happened? In this book, Robert Nideffer will show you that you need to "practice" your mental game as much or more than your physical skills. Think I'm kidding? All-star pitcher Roger Clemens recently held a workout at the Toronto Skydome, home of his new team, because he said he had not pitched there enough to be able to clearly imagine himself pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays in his off-season workouts. He spent as much time working on his mental game as he was throwing pitches. This book will show you how to reach optimal performance through systematic practice and techniques. Not satisfied with your game? Don't buy another how-to skill book? Invest in working on your mind game and see results

A Formidable Foundation on the Psychology of Sports, August 25, 2008
This review is from: Psyched to Win (Paperback)
The mental aspect of sports is as critical as any physical element yet receives far less attention from the writing community. Psyched to Win offers a comprehensive analysis of the cerebral aspects of sports, ripe with examples, quotations, and scientific examination.
Nideffer presents the importance of the mind and how overlooking the thought process can make or break an athlete. Being in the zone and/or avoiding the choke are critical in all levels of sport. Nideffer spends time identifying how to assess if you have psychological deficiencies, how to work to correct them, and a considerable amount of time on auto suggestion/self hypnosis techniques to help every athlete.
If you would like to excel in sports, mastering the psyche is critical and Psyched to Win presents a formidable foundation on the topic.
