Late Night Soundtrack, July 25, 2004
This review is from: Psychedelicate (Audio CD)
Psychedelicate is a hazy, psychadelic masterpiece. All of the songs have an ethereal, droning quality that can only be compared with the Velvet Underground and of course Nico. However the haunting, melodic harmonies created by the vocals are reminscent of 60s girl groups like the Shangri-Las & The Shirelles but with somewhat sinister overtones. Put this on late at night and sit on your balcony and just observe the existential beauty.

I love this band, one of the few all female bands I can really believe in and love. They rock and they are beautiful. great stuff that kind of reminds me of what a simpler, more Daydreamy Sonic Youth might sound like.

Slumber Party's show was really great. Without previous knowledge of the band, I left their show with the Psychedelicate cd in hand and have become more and more intrigued with every new spin of the cd. The music is very catchy and has a lot of really great guitar riffs; the lyrics are catchy too. I can not say much more. Go out and buy the new cd and see what you think. If you listen to it a few times, you'll be hooked just like me. Thanks Slumber party for the new music!
