I really wish my nursing program would end its love affair with this LWW published junk. Boyd is a horrible author, and the editors of the book must be even worse. The book contains many errors in grammar and also contradicts itself frequently. I feel the book could have been written in about half the amount of pages if Boyd didn't constantly repeat herself and provide information that is not beneficial in passing the course exams and the NCLEX. The end of the chapter only provides a small summary of key points, "critical thinking challenges" that do not provide you answers, and movie recommendations. The book contains NO NCLEX style questions and answers, probably because LWW wants you to spend even more money with them buying their other products offered in book and online form (those are also horrible too just for the record).

Excellent psych nursing book. Has relevant information & lots of resources. Love the tie in to popular culture and the critical thinking questions.

This textbook is nice in that it has a conversational tone and doesn't seem to make things too much more complicated than they need to be. I don't like how every disease is split up into biological, social, and psychiatric domains within the chapter--it makes it hard to find the info I need.

The major reason this got such a low score is OH LORD THE TYPOS. They are awful, many sentences don't even make sense at all (as in you can't even figure out what the heck they mean), and there are misspellings galore. It makes it hard to understand concepts when half the sentences don't make any sense!

This book is pretty terrible. The set up is nice; however, it's FULL of misspellings and grammatical errors, which I can't get over. I was extremely pissed that I spent that much money on a book that wasn't spell checked.

This is an excellent book for my students.

It emphasizes the biological basis of mental illness which helps students understand the different psychiatric disorders.

The key terms and the summary of key points are very helpful in helping students focus on the important material

The critical thinking challenges at the end of each chapter are extremely useful.

I have had very positive feedback from my students and will continue to use this book.

The book was listed like new. It looks a bit more beat up than that. There is some highlighting in it and the cover isn't in the best shape.

However, it is a book and it was cheap and I am on a tight budget and affordable textbooks are nice. The code has still not been used so from that standpoint the book is awesome. I couldn't ask for a more affordable book with the online code.

Thanks!

What baffles me about this textbook is how is it possible for it to have been published five times and still have so many mistakes, both grammatically and with information presented. It carries over to the accompanying website as well.

This textbook was assigned to me for my Mental Health class that I am taking for nursing school. I have found some typo's in this text, but nothing too serious. Overall, this book is great and full of examples (which I love)!
