A medical student's salvation,
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychiatry (House Officer) (Paperback)
When I had medicine and surgery to study for my boards, this turned out to be a quick, thorough summary of psychiatry that got me through my boards in that subject I kept neglecting as I fought my way through medical school. Can you believe psychiatry was my highest score on my boards? Thank you Dr. Tomb.

Classified here under psychosomatic illness, the text gives a more than is warranted impression of psychological involvement in ME (CFS). Mention that depression is common but not that it is common at no higher rates than other severe chronic illness like AIDS or MS. Says CBT seems helpful. Not great evidence for that. No mention of viruses, and the established neuroendocrine immune pathophysiology of the disease.

I find this book helpful for narrowing down the questions I ask in assessment. It is written to be easily understood.
