Editorial Reviews

Review

Doody's Review Service -- Overall, this is a straight forward, thorough review book for psychiatry. It is well organized, comprehensive, and easy to use. Its outline format will certainly appeal to some students, and the USMLE-style questions and answers should help them prepare for their licensing exams. This is a very good contribution to the field of review books for psychiatry. Weighted Numerical Score: 100 - 5 stars! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review / Core text book for Psychiatry, January 11, 2012
By

This is great core text for your Psychiatry Clerkship. It also covers a lot of information that is useful for your Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Geriatrics clerkships.

This book is easy to read and provides good explanations so that you are not forced to memorize random facts or mnemonics that do not make sense(as some of my classmates have commented about other Psychiatry review books), and every chapter ends with 5 - 15 practice questions. This book is published by LWW, so you will have on-line access to the e-book and do not have to carry it around with you.

The only drawbacks are the price, and that it may require a significant time commitment to read the book cover to cover depending on how fast you read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for review - from a nurse practitioner viewpoint, November 11, 2011

Not an NP review book, but very relevant. Laid out as a study guide. Concise but detailed. Includes child psychiatry section.Questions and answers at end of each section. It's written for psychiatry interns; you will need to use another review source to study nursing theory. For $3.50 used, this is a bargain. I give this 5/5.
