Book Description

March 1995
PSYCYIATRY-THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL examines psychiatry from its early beginnings to the present and traces its rise to influence in our society. It is a remarkable story of style over substance, of promises over results, and unrestrained thirst for power. But it is also the story of gullibility: of the politicians who believed the public relations and kept forking out the dollars; of the educators who violated their duty to pass knowledge on to our young and accepted provenly unworkable theories; of media which naively propagated unspected claims and wild theories as truth.

The influence of psychiatric thought upon our lives has been catastrophic. In this searching examination, you will learn exactly how this has happened, how so much of what we casually think of today as "the way it is" had its beginnings in the faulty theories of men who had less than our best interests at heart.

But they say knowledge is power, and with this knowledge you will also learn how we can reverse this tide of destruction and regain what is of value in our lives and our society.

It is time things changed for the better instead of for the worse. This important book is a tool that will help bring such a change about. It is long overdue.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"After reading this book, no longer will we feel that many completely normal patterns of behavior will arbitrarily be labeled as madness. If anything, the economic self-serving interest of an unscientific group will be shown for what they are---A group of Emperors with no clothes. I am recommending this book for all the healing professionals at our center as well as their patients." -- Gary Null, PHD

"I think you know that I found Ultimate Betrayal to be unrivaled portrayal of psychiatry's essential tendency to engage in social engineering under the guise of 'medical expertise'--a dangerous role that they cleverly cultivate at our expense. This book is extremely well done, and I sincerely hope that it will be widely read." -- Director, Office of Consumer Affairs, New Hampshire Hospital, Concord

"Not since Paul Revere took his midnight ride to alert our forefathers that the British were coming has a WARNING been so urgently needed as the wake-up call you deliver in PSYCHIATRY-THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL" -- Clinton Miller, National Council for Improved Health

"Psychiatry-The Ultimate Betrayal...answers a tremendous number of questions as to what happened to cause the social unrest we see on a daily basis in this country" -- Morton Feldman, Executive Vice President, National Association of Chiefs of Police

5.0 out of 5 stars Startling! Chilling! This is "must know" information., October 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychiatry, the Ultimate Betrayal (Hardcover)
This book is a chilling look at the truth about the subject of psychiatry. It strips away the hudreds-of-millions of dollars of public-relations-hype that gives us a false (but comforting) picture of psychiatry, and reveales it for what it really is - the most destructive force in western civilization today. Certainly psychiatry is a "wolf in sheeps clothing", but perhaps if there really is a devil, psychiatry is his network for bringing degredation and destruction to mankind. The author has done an excellent job of ignoring the public-relations picture, to reveal the very destructive results continually produced by this insidious subject. This book is a "must read" for everyone who wants to help ensure the preservation of freedom, western culture and the "American way of life".

5.0 out of 5 stars Psychiatry Kills, April 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Psychiatry, the Ultimate Betrayal (Hardcover)
Reading this book made me feel good, like I had just taken a two week vacation in Hawaii. Why is that? You'll have to read it and find out for yourself. Psychiatry is a non-scientific profession that offers no real lasting solutions for problems people or society experience. There is a real reason for the demise of it's so-called popularity, yet government's still continue to use it to punish the population. The book explores how psychiatry grafted itself onto government support, and how it continues to be well connected to media and government sponsorhip and how it has intruded into the educational system and legal system. Anything invaded by psychiatric ideas [mental virus] seems to get worse and have more problems then ever. You'll read some things that I'll bet you didn't know had originated from psychiatry! Life doesn't have to be filled with fear, pain and unhappiness, that is, unless you're a psychiatrist harming people while pretending to 'help' them with unworkable technology . This book is one of the most excellent written and researched studies of psychiatry. It should be required reading for all students, not just those studying to become doctors! Oh yes, it should be required reading for every newly married couple. If you want to increase your chances of a successful marriage and have fewer problems with your children, read this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars Intelligence-insulting Scientology propaganda, December 19, 2006
This review is from: Psychiatry, the Ultimate Betrayal (Hardcover)
Just a quick note that the positive reviews posted here are written by Scientology shills who do their best to mark the negative reviews as "non-helpful" and hide them. To be frank, Wiseman's an awful writer and an even poorer researcher, as the book is almost entirely filled with false facts, lies and broad generalizations. Wiseman is the head of a lunatic Scientology front group (hilariously called the Citizen's Commission on Human Rights, in spite of the fact that this organization is itself guilty of gross human rights violations) with a stated goal of destroying psychiatry and placing Scientology at the forefront of the world. This book is characterized by a marked ignorance of medical evidence and a preponderance of poorly backed opinion -- Wiseman has no bearing nor background to pronounce on medical issues, and anyone with a modicum of intelligence will quickly realize his blatant disregard for the truth.

Funnier still is the fact that he titles the book "The Ultimate Betrayal." Wiseman should know quite a bit about betrayal, as he abandoned his own daughter when she voiced public criticisms about the Scientology cult -- indeed, he was forced to follow a doctrine of "disconnection" that is demanded by the cult in any case of public criticism. His daughter has recently started a terrific website (www.exscientologykids.com) along with the niece of the cult's psychotic, high school dropout leader, that details the cult's crimes and abuses. Your time would be much better spent reading that website than this poor excuse of a book. Why put any trust in someone whose own maniacal religious dogma has caused him to destroy his own family?
